Argumentative Essay: The Safety Of Our Children
Because of the lack of gun safety, many American children have died and have killed others. In the midst of all these tragedies, the parents of these children are held accountable for allowing this to happen. One example of this would be at an Earl Township Farm, where a 6 year old finds a shotgun with ammo, loads the shotgun and kills his 5 year old cousin, Andrew, who would probably still be alive if his cousin had been taught proper gun safety (Reilly 1). Children should be taught gun safety so that they know what to do if they encounter a gun.

An example of parents not educating their children and keeping a loaded weapon around would be when a 3 year old in Albuquerque, found a handgun in his mother’s purse and shot both his mom and dad with a single shot (Sacco 1). Even though the child was just old enough to walk, he could have been told in any way that the gun in his mother’s purse was bad and to not touch it. The fact that the loaded weapon even being around is absolutely ridiculous. A loaded weapon being around a child has more of a chance of harming the parent or the child than actually protecting the child. More than enough evidence shows that gun safety should be practiced and taught to children.
Because of people’s lack of gun safety in America, a very good amount of children have harmed themselves and others. Children should not touch guns, should know that it is a very dangerous weapon that can and will kill someone, should not have access to them, and should not even be around them. Although others think that it is better for their child to remain ignorant or even keep a loaded gun around, it does more harm than good for the children of America.
