argumentative rough draft undocumented immigrants
Amnesty is the act of forgiveness for past offenses to anybody who have done any illegal act. Every year there are thousands of people coming to the United States illegally. Some illegal immigrants may want a fresh start in life some may want a better chance of a good future for their family. But the question is, should they be given amnesty? In my opinion, they should not be given amnesty, but they should be given help in some way. As an immigrant myself, I feel that everybody should go through the citizenship process like everyone else. My family and I pay a lot of money to get each and every member in this country to insure ourselves of a better future. For someone or anybody to get a free ride would be unfair for all our hard work. I’m not saying that they do not deserve to be in this country, im saying they should earn it and work hard for it like everybody else.
The United States has created a lot of screening and processes to make sure that the people who will enter this country would not be a source of harm. To give amnesty to undocumented immigrants can give the possibility of the country to be in danger because they have avoided the proper process. These processes make sure that the people who will enter and choose to stay in the country would be fit physically and financially. Skipping these processes could let people of burden to be in the society.
Some illegal immigrants do not pay taxes, some of them live off of it. They receive food stubs, health charity and government help from taxes that they do not pay for. They pay for nothing yet they get rewarded for it. Since they do not pay taxes, some of them earn more under the table than minimum wage employees who do their part to help the society by paying taxes.
Entering and staying in a foreign country that does not allow it is illegal. Anything illegal is wrong. Whether you do it for a good cause, if it is illegal, it is a crime. Anybody who manages to make a crime is a criminal. You would not

Illegal immigration has been a huge problem of United States for a long period of time. There are two common ways of how people come to US illegally; first is to cross the border between Mexico and US; second is to overstay when they come to US as a visitor. Why do people want to come to the United States if they are going to be here illegally? Simply, because those illegal immigrants want to have a better life than what they have back in their homeland; but the question here is why then did people come to the United States illegally if they are not getting any benefits? As I asked myself this question, my mind begun to think about the reason of why many illegal immigrants risk their freedom by coming over to a country where they must hide. There must be something that this country is offering to everyone regardless of their legal status.…

An article written by Steven Malaga, published in the City Journal summer 2006, supports the belief : “unskilled, undocumented workers benefit a handful of industries by getting low cost labor, and the taxpayers foot the bill.” In other words, undocumented workers and their illegal families are a drain on our economy. It is claimed that they send every penny they earn to their country of origin, use public services they are not entitled to, perform menial labor, do not pay taxes and their children abuse the right to public services and education. However, as the pamphlet by Neighborhood center states: “ in fact there is no question as to the importance of the buying power of undocumented immigrants. the real predictor of wage disparity is not whether someone is an immigrant (regardless of status), it is lack of education. Foreign-born entrepreneurs with startups businesses have been behind 25 percent of these businesses in this country. Three quarters of the undocumented immigrants pay payroll taxes and they contribute $7 billion in Social Security funds annually without the ability to collect Social Security. While the majority of the children of undocumented immigrants are born here legally and are eligible to public services and education, their parents for fear of deportation are reluctant to seek assistance. Moreover, the…

In the article “Undocumented Indispensable” by Anna Quindlan, the author claims that immigrants should be treated just like they are ordinary American citizens, “We are all immigrants, read signs on Market Street. Some of us just got here sooner (Quindlan). In agreement we are all immigrants, the only difference is the timing of when everyone arrived to America. Many American people are outraged by the idea of having illegal immigrants in this country; however, if these people are so outraged, they don’t have to eat the fruits and vegetables picked by those immigrants or buy the cheap houses that immigrants have worked on (Quindlan). Many immigrants also pay income taxes as well as pay into the Social Security system. In my opinion,…

I personally believe everyone has a shot at living such vibrant and free lives, yet America can only take in a significant amount of people before it becomes overwhelming to our economy. We don’t know what kind of background the other people have. What if there is a family all the way from North Korea that wanted to live in this country because they didn’t get fed or they just hated their dictator? If we let them in, they could take some of the jobs that no one wants to work, and help out the country’s economy. It could also help us understand the other countries a lot better than we do now because each person has their own backstory and we can learn things from other people’s lives.…

Obama, who is the president of the United States, announced the new immigration policy on June 15,2012. The new immigration policy would stop deporting and issue work permits to up to 800,000 young undocumented immigrants who came to the United States as children and had never committed a crime. This was not an amnesty. When some people were being excited and optimistic, Alulema who arrived in the United States when she was 14 said that she had been weary of the administration's broken promises. Believing that the new immigration policy could help many talented young people who arrived in the United States before they turned 16, President Obama said that the young undocumented immigrants had the same culture, language and everything as Americans. Many people who were famous or not were discussing the new immigration policy through every kinds of ways when the new immigration policy was announced by the government. Being told by my friend about the new immigration policy, I thought it was good for talented young undocumented immigrants. As we all know, many people have tried to move into the United States before and there will be more in the future. Most of them had high education and made contribution more or less. So the government of the United States should try to leave them in the United States.…
