Arguments Against Gun Control Essay

Do guns threaten society’s way of functioning and the people it harbors? Throughout America, there have been arguments and arguments following the question of whether or not we need gun control. Guns are viewed as items for self defence and protection. However, guns have posed for more accidents and felonies rather than saving lives. Having guns may seem imperative, but strict gun control is still necessary in the United States. Guns do not protect people like you may assume. Hundreds and thousands of people use guns for purposes other than for safety, such as for bloodshed and injustice brutality. A recent study, released by the Violence Policy Center, found there were “258 justifiable homicides involving civilians using firearms in 2012, compared with 8,342 murders by gun.” It then concluded that the mass population rarely uses guns to protect themselves. Without gun control, people could continue to harm each other in inhumanely terms. America is simply a caretaker to unnecessary violence nationwide.

Guns are not used for protection as you may have first thought. We citizens should take action and impose a gun control system that secures the safety of this nation. It may not seem like it, but people are responsible for all of the violence related to and around guns. Children and teens need protection from the easy availability of guns. Also, gun control does not alter or threaten the Second Amendment. Therefore, the advocation of stricter gun control does not admonish any established rights we already have.
