Arlene Blume In everybody’s life there comes a time where adversity stares you in the eyes. You have two options: You can lie down and let it get the best of you or you can rise up and overcome adversity. Let’s take a gander at how Arlene Blume reacts in the face of adversity along her journey up Mt. Annapurna. Along this difficult climb Arlene had shown great leadership skills. We will be using the 4 c’s model to discuss how these skills helped her journey and what she could have done better. The first thing I’d like to talk about is how credible of a climber Arlene Blume actually was. She was a female climber very determined to make many difficult climbs. Some of her previous accomplishments include taking on the highest soaring mountains of both the Americas. She has been very successful here, but leading the climb of Mt. Annapurna she created an opportunity for all to reach the summit, however, she wanted to lead the group all on her own. In my opinion, she could have included others in leading the journey up Mt. Annapurna This is Arlene’s weakest C of the model. She could have done better, but it wasn’t that she did poor in this aspect. Arlene’s passion was climbing the tallest peaks. Anyone who has a passion this deep about something cares and wants others to share that with her. Climbing mountains can be dangerous and when you have a passion like Arlene’s it may lead you to taking more risks that others in the group may want to stay on the safe side of
