As I was heading up the river before I got here, there were steamboats and there were people in wagon trains camping outside of independence. Also I had to travel three miles from the Missouri to independence. The road here is like paved just like the ones in Georgia. The reason why I am here is to get extra supplies like extra bullets, flour, salt, bacon. People here packed their stuff, sold their houses, their churches everything was getting packed. Some people are herding their animals.Wait before I tell you other stuff something bad happened to James his leg got ran over and he has a broken leg this is …show more content…
I am writing this in the Willamette valley in Oregon we made it, I'll get to that later anyway a lot has happened to our wagon train i'll explain now first when we were waiting for the river to drop down, we had to lose a days worth of food then as we crossed our wagon tipped and we lost 20 pounds of food but we still crossed safely. Then we came across some friendly Indians we traded with them, we traded them some bacon salt and flour and bullets for moccasins, it was worth it, then we a nice meal and boy I can't describe how good it was the first actual meal I had in a long time. Then we fought a prairie fire and 3 kids and a girl ate something poison and died the next day at that moment I did not know what is poisonous or not. Then there has been a storm that I was so scared so I thought to myself that surprisingly gave me confidence three kids and a girl died already and that is not happening again then a wagon blocked our way so I helped them. After that I got diarrhea by drinking bad water that’s gone now with the comfrey leaves I bought. Then we were in the Rocky mountains and there was a sick dude just standing there that looked very, very ill he had cholera so we went on and some people died from that. Then we were crossing the Rocky Mountains our oxen did tremendous if it weren’t for them I wouldn’t be writing right now. Then we met up with Shoshone Indians, they were nice and just as I expected, they looked hostile at first, but I

Let's just say the way they ended was Morice having to pry Carol’s hands off of the little boys neck. Morice was extremely apologetic decided…

I suddenly realized the accident had put our pick-up right into a snowbank. The pick-up was completely covered in a white blanket of snow all around us. My mom tried to back us back out of the snowbank, but with our luck it the truck was stuck. After we couldn’t escape the snowbank I started to freak out screaming that we were all going to die! But my mom reassured me that we would be okay and would soon be out and on our way. As we waited in the pick-up it began to slowly getting colder and colder which was not a pleasant experience. We were waiting for my grandpa to come to our rescue. The sun started to slowly go down and the darkness and cold of the night began to overcome us in the snowy canyon. We were all freezing, but trying to make the most of our current situation we began to listen to music. While listening to the music we got lost in our jamming out session and in what it felt like no time at all my grandpa arrived. He pulled us out of the dreadful snow and made sure our pick-up was alright. I talked about what had happen like as if i almost…

We joined with the wagon train early this morning. So far the journey has been very slow, I think we only traveled about ten miles today. Even though we only traveled a short distance everyone seems very exhausted. We formed a corral with the wagons. Everyone says that this will help to keep us safe if Indians should attack. It also helps us to keep the livestock that we brought along from running off. Once the corral was formed we all cooked and ate dinner together. Even though the children were tired they wanted to play and explore a little. They really couldn’t do much exploring because I did not want them to wonder off too far because I feared that something would happen to them. So far they seem to be having fun playing with the other children. While they were playing us adults sat around the campfire and listened to our travelling companions play the fiddle and sing, it was very relaxing after the long day that we had. Hopefully I will be able to keep writing about our journey daily but I have my doubts. This is going to be a long journey and I have a feeling that there is going to be a great…
