Army Air Force Exchange Services (Aafes)
ARMY AIR FORCE EXCHANGE SERVICES (AAFES)

The Army and Air Force Exchange Services (AAFES), has capitalized on the opportunity to provide Armed Forces service members, their families and Veterans with necessary services and everyday products within the Continental United States, and also international locations across the world.

AAFES is ultimately responsible for in excess of three thousand facilities internationally. Various fast food restaurants operate under AAFES to include Burger King, Popeyes, Taco Bell, and Subway just to name a few. Armed forces members, their Family members and local nationals enjoy the convenience of being able to visit American establishments within foreign regions.

This form of globalization is incredible due to its internal agenda to preserve the American dollar in foreign countries. Americans are more apt to spending their money within a trustworthy American establishment in lieu of spending their money on the local economy. Individuals that are allowed to shop within AAFES establishments are entitled to significant savings which vary from 5% to 20% discounts, in addition to zero taxes on their products and merchandise.

AAFES is committed to ensuring that a commendable portion of their financial returns are provided to supplement Armed Forces morale, welfare, and recreational activities. Additional AAFES funds are utilized to enhance the AAFES stores worldwide.

AAFES attentiveness on the importance of benefits for the service members, and their quality of life has increased their international acceptance within the United States and abroad. AAFES motto is “We Go Where You Go.” This type of marketing strategy is appealing to the service members, their Families, Veterans, and foreign nationalist who benefit from the globalization employment opportunities.

AAFES is in a position to exercise various levels of globalization measures proven to be beneficial for everyone involved within the United States

I have selected AAFES as the organization to search upon, and will find out just how committed they are to diversity now, and what led them to their current view. I have found that AAFES stands for the Army and Air Force Exchange Service, it is an agency of the United States Department of Defense, and they have served the American Armed forces for approximately 117 years. They are setup to provide quality merchandise and services to Reserve members, Guard, and active duty. Their mission statement boldly says that “It is the dual enduring mission of AAFES to provide quality merchandise and services to its customers at competitively low prices in order to generate earnings which will be used to supplement United States Army and Air Force Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR Program)” (The Army & Air Force Exchange Service website, 2011, para. 1).…

America’s expansion into a country that is looked at at a global stage is largely due to the way Americans do business internationally. Huge corporations are expanding into other countries so that they can produce their goods locally and make massive amounts of money off of it. Some of these companies include Coca-Cola, McDonalds, and Lays. For example, Lay’s the smallest of these companies, is looking to expand into many countries to make a profit. Al Bru of Frito-Lay North America demonstrates this mentality when he said “Every time I hear about China, I think for the next hundred years we can have double-digit growth” (Jennings, 101). These kinds of decisions end up “Americanizing” businesses and they in turn expand their profits which drives them to expand even more. These businesses are clever and generally sell the same exact thing as they do everywhere else, but each different place has its own local twist to it (Week 13 Blog).…

As we all know, America possesses an extensively large and influential market. Establishment of World Trade Organisation WTO is one positive impact that Americanization brings to the society since America is one of the countries to initiate such an international organisation. WTO deals with the global policies of trade among nations so as to ensure those countries which have signed the agreements have a fair trading among them. Not only it can stimulate the economy of some developing countries but also allow more countries to have wider choices of imported goods. However, the negative impact of Americanization on the world business is quite serious. As mentioned before, America is able to influence the market. The world finance is nearly under control by America. Once the economy of America gets worse, the other countries will suffer as well. This phenomenon has already occurred…
