The case study describes two brother entrepreneurs-Ed and Colin Power- who want to re-open a sports clothing and shoe store after their first store, Athlete’s Warehouse, failed to thrive. The Power brother’s main strengths are:
1. Ed and Colin Power Are Accomplished Athletes: Both brothers are passionate about sports. Colin holds had a formal education in PE and holds a physical education degree, he has had jobs in the physical education industry including executive director of Grand Falls YMCA.
2. Ed And Colin Power Are Respected, Concerned, And Involved Community Members: Ed and Colin in the past organized a track and field club, this club was formed by 20 students of all the schools in the area. The brother provided formal coaching to these students.
3. Colin Power Is Great A Creative Manager: Coling was able to raise the revenue The Fitness Factory was producing; Colin got creative and added new services-ballet lessons and body shaping- this move allowed The Fitness Factory to become more successful, as a manger Colin saw a need and he added these services to improve cash …show more content…
Time Management: Ed is currently employed at the local paper mill, his time is limited and the will now have to hold two jobs in order for the new store to work; Ed will have no salary for 4.1 years. Colin will work 30 hours at the new store, it is important to note that The Fitness Factory was failing due to poor management and the business started producing once Colin completely dedicated himself to fix the problems it was facing.
2. Lack Of Capital: The brother’s lack good solid capital that won’t be catastrophic to their future. Colin is asking Ed to invest money he has worked hard for, money he has saved for retirement, to invest in a new business venture that like any other business has the possibility to fail.
3. Colin’s Emotions: It is expressed in the case study that Colin is the more aggressive of the two brothers and though aggression is good when you are an entrepreneur, I have experienced that aggression can lead you to moving too quickly and opening the door to making mistakes.Paul Hudson from Elite Daily writes: Controlled and is the key to successful endeavours.
