The first hero in To Kill A Mockingbird is Jean Louise Finch (nicknamed Scout). Scout is a hero because she is always notices the adults in Maycomb. One example of this is she is always friendly to the adults. She greeted Mr. Cunningham when he was getting ready to kill Tom Robinson. “Hey, Mr. Cunningham… Hey, Mr. Cunningham, how are you entailments getting along?... Do you remember me, Mr. Cunningham? I'm Jean Louise Finch. You brought some hickory nuts one time, remember... I go to school with Walter... He’s your boy, ain’t he? Ain’t he sir?... Jem is a hero because he is always responsible for Scout and Dill, and he is also very loyal to his father, Atticus. One example of his responsibility is when he and Scout were walking from the pageant and Bob Ewell attacked them. Jem tried to hold Bob away from Scout and told her to run. He said, “Run, Scout! Run! Run!” (Page 351) He is always trying to look after Scout and Dill, and no matter what happens it seems that Jem is ready to protect them at all cost. The second example is when Atticus went to the jail where Tom Robinson was being held. Jem was worried about Atticus and went to try to find him. When Atticus saw Jem he told him to go home, but Jem said, “I ain’t going home, Atticus” (Page 205). Jem was worried about the whole family and is ready to do what is right even if someone tells him not to do
