The purpose for writing a play, document, or even a letter identifies the reason “why”. You may write a play to get noticed by a producer. There are four main purposes to writing and they are to summarize, to analyze, to synthesize, and to evaluate. Your audience will always depend on the group of people or individual you will be speaking too or who will be watching you, weather you are acting in a play or speaking at a family reunion. You do not have to be in front of someone speaking to have an audience. You may have written a script for a play and want a producer to read over it in which then that person or people who are reading what you have wrote becomes your audience. No matter if you are speaking in front of someone or sending an email you have to make sure your tone s approximate. Your tone identifies your attitude. Even when sending an email you should never use all capitalized letters. It makes the reader thing you are yelling or using a high pitched tone. Your content is what information you use for your document. Contents can be anything from something a person may write to pictures or even graphs. When writing any type of document always consider who your audience will be or the individual that you will be speaking to or reading something you have written. Make sure your tone is presentable and you have all the main contents you will need to present your…

Communication is one of the most challenging skills for me. When learning this new challenging skill, I am asked to initially overcome fears against the odds, which slowly appear surmountable with the passage of time. For me the ability of communication is like building a tower, then writing skill is a part of the tower and I call it “wall brick”. In order for this tower to stand the bricks must be strong. Though flourished rhetoric in writing can enhance a paper in some aspects, I believe that a logical structure is the key to quality composition. Wring, in any language, was never appreciated by me. Thus I just had some inferior bricks at first. I kept those low-grade materials and tumbledown “tower” for a long time until I transferred to another high school where I met my wonderful teachers. I used to hate writing, but when I entered my new high school the way I write has been totally impacted and was deeply branded.…

One of my strengths as a writer is that I am confident in my ability to use proper grammar, style and formatting. I was an English major in college, so I developed a unique writing style that is clear, convincing, and flows well. However, that in itself is in direct correlation to my biggest weakness. Because I have had years to develop a distinctive style, I have become accustomed to taking creative liberties and being guilty of wordiness and asserting my personal opinion. To be a successful academic writer, I must learn to be more cognizant of making every word count (Wellington, 2005, pp.152-153). Instead of sharing opinion and making vague statements, I must learn to state specific facts substantiated by credible sources. This should be relatively easy for me to improve on because at least I am aware of this shortcoming. I plan to use this knowledge as an opportunity for growth instead of a weakness.…

First and foremost, being reminded of the importance of avoiding plagiarism and using your own work is an imperative issue to always be aware of. It can be so easy in this current age of technology to be tempted to go online and find what you need to complete an assignment or presentation. However, the only true way to learn and preserve integrity and honesty is to always present your own ideas, and give credit to the writings or ideas of others you may use in your work.…
