Augustus Grace Quotes
This quote “The real heroes anyway aren’t the people doing things; the real heroes are the people noticing things, paying attention” is said when Augustus Waters is writing to Peter Van Houton asking him if he could write a eulogy for Hazel Grace. What Augustus is saying is that Hazel never noticed his cancer, what she did do was fall in love with him no matter the circumstances. She payed attention to him regardless his prosthetic leg. Another way of seeing this quote in the book is Peter Van Houton noticed that Augustus waters and Hazel Grace did love each other and wanted to pay it to Augustus to attending his funeral. Van Houten noticed that Augustus went out of his way to make Hazel happy in any way possible.

Then she goes on to try and get him to eat the food she brought him. Then he begins to call himself a hog. Alexandra is the epitome of the south. She has hatred towards African-Americans, and she believes that girls should learn to cook and clean and never run around and play with her friends. As for Jem and Scout, they believe that girls can have fun and roughhouse, and think that African-Americans are equal to white people such as themselves. Because Scout believes that her Aunt has the opposite ideas from what Atticus believes, Scout is prejudice against her own family member. This quote helps define the thematic subject of prejudice or understanding people who are different. Scout…

The First Lady, Abigail Adams, once stated, “If particular care and attention is not paid to the ladies, we are determined to foment a rebellion, and will not hold ourselves bound by any laws in which we have no voice, or representation” (BrainyQuote). This statement was intended for rebellion regarding the rights of women, however rebellion is rebellion. Due to this stand led by Adams and other women, the females in society today are fortunate enough to have received all of the rights possible. Rebellion is not only used when citizens’ rights are needed, but as Abigail said, it is used when people “have no voice or representation.” For example, many teenagers feel like they…
