I have deadlines which I have to meet on a daily basis, things such as opening and sending post by a certain time, however on occasions my Manager may give me other tasks and we always discuss what is priority and when it needs to be done by. This may mean that I have to re-prioritise tasks due to the fact there is only me and him working in the office. All work that I complete is saved onto the computer in a password protected file, I appoint the appropriate title to the document and also add the date so that if anyone requires it I have it saved and ready.
There are many purposes and benefits of agreeing realistic targets for my work, one being that I do not overload myself. Some tasks may be time consuming and will require a lot more time than others but it is important that I do not rush any of my work. It is easiest to agree a realistic target by analysing the task itself or with discussions with my Manager.
There are many different ways to plan work but usually I will take not of what I need to do then plan it out step by step, for example if I have a letter to write I will note down what needs to be included in the letter then step by step add it.
It is important that I keep Dave, my Manager, up to date with where I'm at with all of my work, by doing this he knows that I am sticking to set deadlines and also means that if he requires something he know's it's either done or in the process of being complete.
