The producers of this commercial knew its target audience and went after it. It had a strong attention getter. Right from the beginning this commercial had my attention and maintained it throughout the entirety of the advertisement. It had strong appeals to pathos, ethos, and logos. This commercial worked for me, but for others I can see how this commercial came up short in getting their attention. For example, my views towards the music choice, the girl, and scenery corresponded well with what I wanted to see, but if you asked my mother about the commercial I’m sure there would be a completely different reaction to the commercial. In fact when I was watching the commercial in class in preparation for writing this analysis the girl who sits behind me watched the commercial over my shoulder and said that she thought the commercial was “ stupid”. It wasn’t until this moment that I realized the importance of pathos, ethos, and logos and how different each person’s appeals truly…
Behind all fallacies there is major critical thinking. Not knowing how to think critical could jeopardize your argument in reasoning. Critical thinking, is analyzing further into a subject to get valid points in an argument. As we all know, fallacies are considered flawed ways into having invalid reasons. There are many reasons why fallacies are not very good to use in an argument. However, since there is a great quantity of fallacies. I will only discuss two fallacies, Faulty Analogy and Bandwagon.…
The commercial targets pre-teen boys and young men by appealing to their wanting more independence and wanting to grow up and be liked by girls. A quote heard in the commercial more than…
The commercial follows a man, that slowly amassed a following of those that need help. The way I view the commercial, is the man isn’t being followed by an actual group of people but is being haunted by the thoughts of those in need. The commercial relies heavily on pathos, ethos, and logos; the use of melancholy music sets the tone of the whole commercial. Putting all this together, allows the viewer to realize what a difference one person can make if they see someone in need of help. This commercial was made to show the various issues in the world.…
The audience of this commercial is men, women, children, beer drinkers, and football watchers. This commercial is shown to men knowing that men drink beer. This commercial was also shown during the super bowl knowing men will be watching football and the commercials. It is shown to women in hopes to get an emotional response. It is a woman’s instinct to show emotion…
Commercials are always targeting specific audiences with certain angles or visuals in the ad, for example, the Old Spice Company is a male deodorant and body wash producer but in this commercial the spokesperson is trying to convince women that they want their men to wear Old Spice. This particular ad is directed towards audiences that are couples, and even single males who want to appeal more to the women. The…
This advertisement is trying to convince its viewers that if you buy the foods they are selling, you can have a dramatic loss in weight. The ad shows a before and after picture comparing the two and how much skinnier she is now just because of eating these foods. Also, it shows a text of how much weight she has lost, and article of how it changed her life, a quote in big bold letters, samples of the food and at the bottom, and it shows the name of the product that is in big bold letters so it gets every ones attention. The emotional appeal I think this one has is the need for attention because of the face that you want to lose all this weight to look good for other people and is not happy with the way your body is already. In my opinion, this does manipulate the public dramatically because everyone wants that great look you can get by slimming down easy.…

The advertisement targets a general audience, who could easily associate the them self with the ad. In the ad, the letter u is in a stop sign. This has a positive connotation of pertection and self awarness. But the image also implies that only you can stop it no one else. because of this association, flattery, and universal appeal technique, people feel they have the power and gets the vaccine. They certainly would not want want to get sick or feel like they let others down. Therefore, this ad effectively persuades people to get the…

In conclusion, the “got milk?” campaign is a very persuasive work of advertisement. It uses Logos, Pathos, and Ethos in its persuasion very effectively to target its specific viewing audience. Although it does commit a few logical fallacies, it attempts to base itself more realistically than the majority of ads. The ad would do its job of persuading me to drink milk, or at least give up the habit of drinking sugary drinks, in order to be healthier and leaner. If anything, this ad persuades us to reevaluate our nutrition in order to be better human…
A thesis statement takes a clear position on an issue. This is different from normal topic sentences because the thesis statement cannot be neutral. This is your own opinion that you intend to back up (think of it like a debate). The thesis statement is your reason and motivation for writing. A non-thesis thesis does none of these things.…
