We look in the mirror and what do we see? We see scars, we see failure, and we think about the past and worry that it will define our future. We find ourselves searching for a way to change. Change the way we were created to be, but for what? To impress the people that we think are our friends; to seek a compliment and feel popular or appreciated? Society tells us to change ourselves and act a certain way to portray us as someone else. We admire and want to be like people for all the wrong reasons. We change ourselves based on the insecurities that we have developed because of those we think “matter”, but what we don't see is what is right in front of us (Geisel). Those who care and love us for no one but us, and when we take a second to look back and reflect, we find that those who love us don't “mind” who we truly are. You hear these words and you play it off like it’s nothing, but you think about it and try to see how you can fix whatever problem you have been told you have. It is a revolving cycle until one day you look at yourself and you can hardly recognize who you are. These negative words and jokes spiral into a tornado of lies making you see yourself as someone totally different. People don’t realize that what they say hurts sometimes, but it is our decision on what we decide to do with it. The fact of the matter is that we all question and refine ourselves hoping to please someone that we think cares, but what we don’t know is that there are some people that love us so much that they don't “mind” and they want nothing but the best for us. Romans 12:2 says it best, “ Do not conform to the pattern of this world.” Meaning exactly what it says, we are to do what we please for we are not to fall into the endless lies that society wants us to
