Most states require a doctorate in clinical psychology as well as an internship and one or two years of work experience that is relevant to the position. Pursuing a career in neuropsychology starts with earning a bachelor's degree in Psychology from a four-year college or university. After obtaining their undergraduate degree, the next step would be completing a master's in clinical psychology. Most schools that offer graduate courses in psychology will offer a clinical psychology track. I have always been very intrigued by the brain and psychology and this combines each and explores the relationship between the two. Having a case that couldn't be solved or fixed would be the most difficult situation I can think of, or working with patients who have severe issues such as a stroke or advanced Huntington's would be hard emotionally. However, this career path would be very rewarding knowing all of the patients you help and improve their quality of life.
