Becoming a Nurse
As a child I always knew that I wanted to become a Nurse. I never imagined myself as a teacher, hairstylist or dentist like most of my peers. I always had the feeling that I could become a woman who individuals could rely on in a caring manner. As I got older that feeling was welcomed to the opportunity of becoming a CNA during my 11th and 12th grade years of school, where I attended Darlington High. Although, I do feel as if I can be that woman, I learned in life that sometimes having others who you can go to and rely on is just as much needed. I would like to inform you all to the woman who influenced my life greatly through simple measures with excellent outcomes, Mrs. Altman. Mrs. Altman was my CNA instructor, great at what she did and loved what she do.
During clinicals, Mrs. Altman always made sure that her students performed their best. She was such a great motivator; she kept me on my toes, and made sure that I did what had to be done in order to succeed in her class and in life. She would take extra time with me just to make sure that I had a plan for my future. Mrs. Altman is actually the person who motivated me to attend Francis Marion to pursue my career in Nursing. She also instilled in me that I could become anything that I wanted to be despite all trials and tribulation that were to be faced in life. I also learned that cockiness is not the route to take when you plan on succeeding in life. On the way to the testing site, 2 of my friends were boasting about how easy it’s going to be and how they know they are going to pass. I just sat there, nervous, like I am now and silent. Both of my friends tested before me. I was so nervous when my name was called; however, my motivator, Mrs. Altman, told me to calm down and whispered “everything will be alright”. Once everyone was finish, we received two slips of paper that revealed whether we passed or failed. Both of my friends who boasted and knew they were going to pass actually failed. However, my
