This project was helpful to me because it made me really think about what my health goals were, and it forced me lay out exactly how I was going to reach them. If it were not for this project, I do not think that I would have had the incentive to change my bad health behavior.

The thing about bad habits is that we develop them because the activities are advantageous, pleasant, or rewarding in some way. My bad habit was rewarding in the fact that I was losing weight, and to reap continuous rewards, one must continue performing the same action that led to the reward the first time. This is how we as humans learn all of our behaviors; however, mine in particular led to something so awful. I was in the hospital for months being fed through tubes, something I would not wish upon my worst enemy. Anorexia nervosa is a serious, and in my case, a life-threatening eating disorder that is characterized by inadequate food intake leading to a weight that is clearly too low. I have skipped meals for so long now, and I feel that I am still happy and healthy. Thus being said, I did not see a point in changing my behavior. After finding my motivation though, I struggled understanding that this change would not take place overnight. I knew that it was going to be something I had to work at, and it would take time to develop a new and improved way of life.
To overcome these struggles of mine, I kept telling myself that if I was happy now while practicing a bad health behavior, I would be even happier when practicing a good one. This ties into the idea of holistic health. Holistic health is a complete state of physical, mental, and social well-being. I knew that if I improved my physical health, I would be improving other aspects of my health as well.
Healthy habits can be hard to develop and they often require changing your mindset. But if you do indeed change your mindset, you will be rewarded with long-term benefits. Long-term benefits of changing my behavior include a controlled weight, an improved mood, my ability to combat diseases, an energy boost, and longevity. Bad habits are difficult to break, but after adopting a healthier lifestyle, you will not regret your decision. Practicing healthy habits reduces the risk of certain diseases, improves your physical appearance and mental health, and gives your energy a
