Behavior Progress: Since William’s last court review, William has demonstrated some difficulty complying with managing his behavior and accepting his placement in the program. After his most recent court hearing, William was highly frustrated and presented a negative attitude towards his continuation in the program. William has verbalized that he was “sick of the program and everyone in it”. William’s frustration and negative disposition has been a major focus during individual sessions with staff. On March 13, 2016, William was observed by staff swinging a broom like a baseball bat during clean up and received a sanction. William was then asked to go to his room in which he initially failed to comply; he then began to argue with staff. Later…
My primary goal was to reduce sedentary behaviour (playing an iPad game ‘HeartStone’) and increase vigorous activities (going to the gym). In order to maintain health in overall, it is advised by a number of guidelines all adults should spend minimum 30 minutes of modest amount physical activity on most days of the week (Pate, Pratt and Bair, 1995). I aimed to go to gym three days a week for at least 30 minutes.…
“Healthy People 2020 is committed to the vision of a society in which all people live long healthy lives” (Healthy People, 2012). Promoting wellness and fitness are important health goals for me and my family. I often make healthy resolution every year in January and that is to get physically fit, to be more active, to eat better, to lose weight and to manage stresses in work and family life. I do try to eat healthy foods and I do not smoke. I also learned how to manage my stress through meditation and relaxation. I do value physical activity and to exercise regularly but I do not have enough time to exercise. After a full time job at school I have to run to another part time job in a different location. I am just too tired after work to…
My life is an unusual one. My work schedule has me getting up before the sun rises and getting home before lunch time. After I get home, my time is mostly occupied by my two year old daughter. Then, I cook dinner and usually go to bed before the sun sets. Because of the nature of this lifestyle, there is not much time for things like exercise or any other physical activity. Do not get me wrong. I do participate in some mild physical activity associated with chasing my daughter around outside on a nice day or inside when the weather does not cooperate, but I would hardly call that exercise. On top of that, because of my daily routine, I do not have time to really concentrate on what I am…

This experiential learning activity will give you an opportunity to apply basic psychological principles to learn more about your own behavior. The project will be conducted over a 9 week period. By week 3, you will choose a behavior that you would like to change and come up with a behavior change plan. In weeks 4-10, you will work on changing that behavior and record your progress. In weeks 11-13, you will reflect, analyze, and interpret your behavior change and outcomes. A 5 page write-up (double spaced) of this behavior change activity covering the points described below is due the week of presentations at the beginning of the class period.…
For my Behavior Change Project I chose to change my drinking habits with water. This seems like it would be an easy thing for anyone to do. All you have to do is just drink a lot of water right? That wasn’t the case for me I kind of had some trouble with consuming more water. As an athlete here at Colorado State University-Pueblo, water is very important to me. Without the right amount of water I consume every day, I will start slacking in my performance on the court and in the classroom.…

I chose the “Behavior Change Contract”, Wellness Worksheet 5 because I wanted to challenge my self and try to keep a promise. I set my expectations high and I wanted to reach my three goals that I have wanted to do for some time now. The three goals that I chose were to active, eat healthy, and improve my sleeping schedule. I know that if I keep my promise to this contract my body will be in great shape by the summer time and I expect great results. I do not know the outcome of my results yet but as I start my goals I notice a change in my body. I wake up in a good mood and my body thanks me for being active and eating healthy already and I just recently started. As my body adjust to these goals the results will show physically and that helps…
In my self-directed behavioral change project, I encountered a lot of difficult challenges and obstacles in reaching my ultimate goal: a better night’s sleep. My goals for this behavioral change project were to establish a proper sleep and bedtime regimen, getting a full-night’s rest and ultimately feeling more alert and energetic through the day. My main goals were to improve my sleep cycle/regimen by getting the necessary eight hours of sleep I need every night and waking up in the morning feeling fully rested and not sleepy, tired, or groggy at all. This is what I set out to do and I recorded all the times I went to bed, times I’d fall asleep, times I’d wake up in the middle of the night, and times I’d wake up next morning. I recorded all of my observations and occurrences for two weeks and noticed some positive change in my bed-time pattern. I was able to get the necessary eight hours of sleep every night and felt a difference the next day.…
Numerous studies showed that a daily routine of exercise made people live longer lives, had healthier bodies, and were in a more positive psychological state than the people who did not perform exercise as part of their lifestyle. Majority of my family members were overweight and I witnessed many psychological effects that took a toll on their bodies and interfered with their work routine and also their social life. On the other hand, when I reached a certain age in my life, I knew that I did not want to have the health problems some of my family members did and decided to make exercise part of my daily routine to decrease the negative psychological effects that it could have had on myself. Many people used the excuse; I do not have time for exercise or I didn’t have any money for a gym membership. To me, this was just an excuse because anyone can take thirty minutes a day and go for a walk through the park or jog through the neighborhood, which cost no money at all. “Research demonstrated that individuals who exercised with others, that involved virtual reality stimulation, or getting feedback aimed at improved self efficiency and enjoyment, greater increase in stress reduction, mood, and well-being, and reduced anxiety and depression” (Plante 1).…

The behavior change project for me was a very rewarding process because I really felt like I was able to help someone. I started off in the beginning trying to help my friend lose weight because he had always told me that he wanted too. Throughout the six weeks, he lost a total of 10 pounds. It wasn’t always easy throughout because it took a lot of planning and hard work to achieve what he wanted to. As time went on, his goals became easier for him. He worked 3 times a week (missed only one!) and made sacrifices in his diet. Although he did not meet his goal, he still did a very good job. I guided my client to develop goals and objectives from the beginning of our first meeting. I told him that I did not want to pressure him in doing something he doesn’t want to do. However, he was very determined and asked for my help for some of them. Through out the weeks, we did change some of the goals and objectives depending on how he did the week earlier. I did tell him that a gradual build up to working out and diet would be best. Also, I asked him what would motivate him and incorporated that into our system.…
Health and wellbeing are vital aspects for all populations. There are many benefits for individuals who engage in physical activity and adhere to a healthy eating balanced diet. In 2003 The World Health Organization (W.H.O.) states that Physical activity “Interacts positively with strategies to improve diet, discourages the use of tobacco, alcohol and drugs, helps reduce violence, enhances functional capacity and promotes social interaction and integration.”…
The primary goal of my behavior change project was to break my bad habit of skipping meals. Unfortunately, when I younger, I had an eating disorder, and a lot of the unhealthy habits that I picked up during that time have stuck with me. I have asked myself countless times if my eating disorder would ever go away completely, but I realized that it is in my hands to break the habits that keep me close to that period.…
