Belleville West Research Paper
The Belleville West volleyball team are the first team so far this season and last season to have given Althoff a loss after having a winning streak of about 20. After a slow start in the beginning Maroons defeated the Crusaders Tuesday night. The Belleville West volleyball team were thrilled to hand the Crusaders an L after an amazing winning streak.

Kaylee Hanger, Katherine Koch, and Nisha Quarles all played major roles in beating the Crusaders. Hanger made 13 kills with 17 assists, Koch proceeded with 12 digs to rank second on the West scoreboard, following behind Koch was Quarles who continued with 13.

Althoff had a win streak at 19 matches, 21 if we’re counting a consecutive regular season, including matches dating back to last season. The odds of beating them were slim to none but Belleville West proved everyone wrong. Belleville West had their share of wins and losses with around 15 wins so far this season along with 7 losses.

Putting the thought of winning can help with a player’s determination to win. That positive energy gets released and other teammates can feel the same positive vibes and all pull together to win the game.In the game of sports, any to be exact. The game can be very competitive. Which isn’t a bad thing, it actually encourages many to win the game, especially when their extremely determined.

That’s exactly what happened Tuesday September 26th, the girls on the Belleville West volleyball team were very determined to win and encouraged by wanting to give Althoff their first loss that they put their mind to it and won the game.

“Seniors stepped up the game and found a way to win,” coach Sara Thomas-Dietrich said.
Coach Thomas-Dietrich expressed how extremely proud she was of the girls when they handed Althoff their first loss this season wrecking their win
