A 1947 ad for Penn Salt Chemicals demonstrates various applications and benefits of illegal and hazardous Dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane (DDT). The ad tries to persuade industries, farmers and families to use the DDT of Penn Salt Chemicals as agricultural sprays and household pesticides by using various misleading and deceptive fallacies and claims.

The ad states that everyone can enjoy added comfort, health and safety through the insect killing powers of Pennsalt DDT products which is true for any company of DDT products. Every DDT products have insect killing powers not only DDT products of Penn salt. There is nothing new on that and it doesn’t provide any superiority over other competitors. That’s just the statement of a fact of any DDT product of every brand. This ad uses some sort of scientific proof or experiment and provide some specific numbers to claim that there are various benefits of their product. They claim that beef-steers gained up to 50 pounds extra, 25 more barrels of potatoes are grown per acre, and there was production up to 20% more milk, more butter and more cheese through the use of DDT of Penn Salt.
