Here in Texas, in order to get well-paying jobs, we have to have some type of college education to create many doctors, engineers, architects, etc., that could make an impact in the state. Making college tuition free should be taken into account now because they are many people each year who stop or do not even go to college because of their financial status. Many are being left out of achieving higher education due to the high costs and a change needs to be made. This issue, whether it being passed or not, affects, not just Texas but, the country as a whole. Free college for all citizens of Texas should be taken into consideration, because many families cannot afford for their children to go to college, and with that help the citizens will put their effort into making Texas proud of the choice they …show more content…
Many of them think and say that, “most students come from disproportionately well-off backgrounds and already enjoy disproportionately well-off futures” (Bruenig). Brueing states that every student can receive three ways to finance their college education: “college students receive three kinds of public benefits: tuition subsidies, living grants, and public loans” (Bruenig). A situation he presented is that “relatively few poor kids who do attend college heavily cluster in two-year community colleges and cheaper, less selective four-year colleges, while richer kids are likely to attend more expensive four-year institutions” suggesting that low income students tend to go to community colleges where is cheaper because they know they are not going to be able to finance a four year university. In his article he also mentions that by “giving extra money to a class of disproportionately well-off people without securing any reciprocal benefit to poor and working-class… would be at worst destructive, and at best, totally pointless” (Bruenig) giving his poor opinion about low income students and families. He believes that by giving them money they do not deserve, the money would go to waste. But students who know the benefits of having free tuition that would lead them to no debt, would not take it
