College Tuition Should Be Free Essay
The cost of college education today is so high that many young people are giving up their dream of going to college, while many others are graduating deeply in debt “ Bernie Sanders.” Majority of college costs fall between college tuition and fees category.If college is essential for building a career and being a full participant in our democracy as high school once was, shouldn't it be free, paid for by public dollars People believe that colleges are a place to learn and students cannot do so if they cannot afford it. College tuition should be free because to lessen student debt, lower dropout rate, and help graduates be successful. .

College tuition should be free because of the student loan debt.The student debt has risen tremendously over the years. For example, The institution for College Access showed that from 2004 to 2014, students’ debt at graduation rose 56 percent, from 18,550 to 28,950. Tuition has risen more since 2014. Based on statistics, class of 2016 has 37,172 in student loan debt, which has been brought up six percent since last year. 66 percent of public college graduates had loans of 25,550. The main reason for college dropout seems to be because of financial issues.At the forefront of reasons for college dropout is the cost—and not just the cost of tuition, but the costs of books, materials, transportation, and housing. Forty-eight percent of college students drop out because they cannot afford tuition. Most students do not have scholarships to cover at least half of their tuition. A study surveyed dropouts and about 7 in 10 of the dropouts said they had no scholarship or loan aid.
