As a member of QAA, I would like to learn more about the accounting industry. I have taken a number of accounting classes, as well competed in the accounting category at DECA. However, my knowledge is limited to the theory of accounting; I have little to no insight on the industry itself. I feel that, as a Commerce student, it should be my responsibility to have insight into as many relevant industries as possible. In addition to industry insight, I believe there are some very valuable benefits of being a member of QAA. First, receiving tips for how to succeed in an interview are valuable for all Commerce students, and I recognize that there is room for improvement in my own interview skills. I hope to take away some valuable lessons on interviewing…

I have not had any scholarships in my time at Maryland. However, I am a DACA member, which is a student that has immigrated to the US at a young age. Being a DACA recipient has allowed me to come to this school at an in state tuition rate for the Robert H. Smith School of Business here at Maryland, which i believed is a scholarship in is own right for a person such as myself.…
The Prairie Meadows scholarship will help me pursue a career in engineering at Iowa State University. It will help me go to community college first to get my basic courses out of the way before I go to a four year school. The money will help me pay for books. I know a lot of students struggle with money and paying for books. The scholarship would also help me out if I don’t get an…
My family was affected by the Louisiana Flooding, so this scholarship would be a relief to my family. That is because the flood has resulted in economic hardships which have made the prospect of attending university even harder than it would be under normal circumstances. Additional to the economic consequences of the flood, it also has simply made the process harder since the college process had to be somewhat put on the back burner while taking care of other matters. In these regards, the scholarship would have a significant impact on my ability to attend university. Obviously there is the fact that it eases the economic situations since it lowers the financial strain of attendance. That is a big deal due to the financial situation that my…
The WDPEA scholarship will impact my future in a positive way. If I am chosen to be awarded with this scholarship it will help me pay for college. I will be paying for mostly all of my college tuition by myself and I do my best to work as much as I can. I am a student athlete taking college credit classes, so between practicing and doing school work, I work at Vos Electric. This scholarship will help me pay for college, so I can come out with as little student debt as I can after I finish school, which is a goal of mine. I would like to come out of college with as little student debt and by applying for this scholarship and by being awarded with the scholarship; it will help me reach my goal.…
For the past two years at B.B. Comer Memorial High School I have worked on the foundation for my career, but with this scholarship I would be able to build upon…
Growing up, I have always had big dreams of what I was going to do when I became older. It’s hard to believe that this stage in life has already arrived, but I know that I’m prepared for it and have great expectations for what is to come. I’ve set goals out for myself and plan on achieving them, but I can’t do so without the proper education. Unfortunately, education is expensive, and my parents have laid the responsibility of paying for college on my own shoulders. I can’t reach my full potential and become the best person I can be without your help in supporting me with financial aid. That is why I exceptionally need this scholarship.…
The past year has been very difficult in my family because my father got cut off of his good paying job which covered most bills, but recently I was able to work more often. I put less stress off my parents shoulders by helping them with things they needed around the house. We were able to get back on their feet at least but this Bloch scholarship would be a Financial saver towards my parents because I don't want my educational goals make them struggle. I want to be able to help my parents and already give back to them. To do that first I will have to go to college to be able to get a good paying job. Also secondly it will allow me to get situated with being out of high school and moving on into college. I know it will help me get comfortable since I can move on into a bigger college with more students in a classroom by time.…
Like everyone else I have been put the test and have gone through trials and tribulations to get to where I am today. However, many people have not experienced the same hardships as myself. I am a first generation college student and I reside in a household that's income is rather low. Being a first generation college student has been a challenge that I am immensely proud of achieving. Being a pioneer for my family's future of acedemic success is an exhilarating feeling. I am proud that I was able to be accepted to college in order to improve myself in and out of the classroom. If I am fortuitous enough to receive this scholarship I will make it my mission to use it in the best way…
There are many benefits to attending a community college and these are some of the benefits I feel that I have gotten from my school. Community College has given me the opportunity to receive a quality education for a reasonable price. The teachers here care about me and want to see me succeed in all that I do, while also encouraging me to strive for success in achieving my dreams. My advisors know of my goals and want to see me achieve them. The smaller classes make it easier for my professors to be able to work with me one on one. Another benefit of attending a community college is that I was able to join Phi Theta Kappa and hold leadership positions on campus. I am able to apply for scholarships through Phi Theta Kappa, and also work on…
The Christine C. Harris Scholarship will greatly help assist me through college/university. Being that I am from a single parent home ,I know my mother would not be able to fully help me financially. My mother also went to a technical college ,but she did not do anything with the degree she had. I want to be able use my degree unlike my mother; I do not want my degree to go to waste when I work so hard for it. After I graduate from either Valdosta State University or Albany State University I want to go work at a hospital. Also I want college to be affordable for me because that will also help my mom who barely gets help from my dad. Yes, he is a good dad but he just can not help me financially the way I want him to. My dad also did not go…
The impact of being awarded this scholarship would forever change my life. It would be a significant boost of confidence from others and for myself. I would also be afforded the opportunity and privilege to finally begin my chosen career. There are no limits to the possibilities of this scholarship and the ways it will affect my…
The Affton Alumni Association Scholarship will make a difference in my post-high school education in three ways: financially, educationally, and personally. Financial assistance is a necessity for many college students, particularly those planning careers that require many years of education beyond the undergraduate level.…
