Weightlifting is beneficial to your health CT Fletcher once said “If you don’t have the mental capacity to be that obsessed about what you’re trying to get....than mothertrucker you aint ever gonna have it.” This quote pretty much sums up a very good perspective into a sentence because weightlifting is so beneficial to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. For one if you lift weights you will handle stress a lot better. For two if you lift weights you will live longer. Finally if you lift weights your bones will grow stronger. In total it is proven to be very healthy to lift weights. Weightlifting is again a great stress reliever. Weightlifting is an amazing stress reliever for pretty much everyone. In Healing Moves, Dr. Mitchell and Carol Krucoff write, “Age-related declines in muscle and bone mass...can lead to frailty and fracture--the prior reason old folks wind up in nursing homes.” If you don’t want to spend your later years resting in a nursing home losing your independence and draining you or your family’s financial resources, you need to do something to remain independent. According to numerous studies and aging manuals that “something” is strength training, an activity known to increase bone mass and thus decrease possibility of osteoporosis. Postmenopausal women are especially prone to osteoporosis because they lack estrogen. Most women know this and begin to take calcium products to ward off the debilitating disease. Calcium products are important, but they are not enough. Not only does your body need magnesium and other nutrients to assimilate calcium into your bones, it also needs strength training to retain calcium. Weightlifting really does help increase muscle mass especially for those who need
