In “The Names”, Billy Collins uses repetitions of names to designate the astronomical quantity of 9/11 victims, and to share his desires of the victims to not be forgotten as time passes by. Billy Collins goes on to present that these names are still pertinent and are almost everywhere around us, however he is unsure that these names are pertinent in future time. As time vanishes, people incline to forget events that have occurred, and this is something Billy Collins desires not to transpire for the 9/11 victims. He hopes that the readers remember the sufferers of the 9/11 attack. Billy Collins utilizes a metaphor in line fifteen to show how the names of the 9/11 victims were ubiquitous.…
From the second Alex arrived at the academy he thought something was weird or different, but couldn't place it. He notices that some kids have already started acting like scholars instead of juvenile delinquents. He did however notice one person different than all the other boys, James Sprintz. James seemed to be the only boy not "brain-washed" that Alex met. Alex and James became close friends at their time at Point Blanc, skipping classes and doing stuff that was expetc…

Some of the counselor’s behaviors that may change as a result of working with Steve are, the counselor will now be able to help a person that is on a difficult journey to better their life. The counselor will be able to help them find their own way instead of trying to guide them down a path. The counselor will be able to teach someone that even though the short easy road looks good, it usually doesn’t get you where you want to be in life. Sometimes you have to take the long and difficult road to get the results that you want. Taking the easy way through things doesn’t benefit you as much as taking the long road. The counselor will now be able to look at things through a different point of view. Instead of always looking through it as a guide, the counselor will now be able to look at it through a travel companions eyes, instead of telling them what they should do, will be able to help them decide what they want to do and what is right for them.…
This allows American counsellors to be equipped to identify mental health issues and get the student to the correct services. Although, American school-counsellors cannot diagnose, with the training in counselling they may be more tailored to identifying a problem which could lend to an earlier intervention for students suffering from Mental Health issues. The ASCA document specifically addresses the need to maintain a membership in school counselor professional organizations to stay up to date on current research and to maintain professional competence in current school counseling issues and topics. American school-counselors become well-appointed to deal with issues surrounding student’s mental health and competency, which would also help when dealing with accommodations within the classroom. School-counsellors have the tools to bridge the gap between a school environment and outside services to help maintain life-long…
I wasn’t sure what to expect from Dr. Piper as my faculty advisor. I had Dr. Piper as a professor for my first Argosy Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) course and was excited to meet with him in a nonacademic environment to discuss different aspects of becoming a mental health counselor. We coordinated convenient time and location for both of us to meet. The meeting was very informative and constructive for me. I was able to discuss my educational future and obtain a better understanding of CMHC process and how my tentative Argosy University CMHC educational plan correlated with the future trends of the counseling process.…

Billy Collins once said, “Poetry can do a lot of things to people. I mean it can improve your imagination. It can take you to new places. It can give you this incredible form of verbal pleasure.” Collins truly sends his readers to new places with his poems. Billy Collins writes with childhood, and memories as his main themes. By writing about childhood, and memories from the past Collins brings his reader into the poem. Everyone reading his poems has had a childhood, and has memories of that childhood, so they can put themselves into the poem and it has a much deeper meaning to the reader. Most of his poems are written in free verse. Writing in free verse allows him to write whatever he wants without worrying about following a specific rhyme…

After I read the ASCA Model on page 9 of textbook, I knew the leadership, advocacy, teaming and collaboration and systemic change are all what school counselors should focus on. I also learned that school counseling is a profession that focuses on the relations and interactions between students and their school environment with the purpose of reducing the barriers in order to help students to success. In my opinion, the team-member and collaborator is the most challenging for a school counselor in an urban school setting. Because as an effective team-member and collaborator, school counselor work with teachers, administrators and other school personnel to make sure that each student succeeds. However, sometimes working with other school setting educators is not very easy. For example, some teachers do not like to follow the advices from counselors, they believe that their ways are perfect. Hence, they do not want to hear the voice from counselors. I understand everybody has different ideas, but I also believe that our students will get benefits if we can work together as a team. We share our opinions and hear everyone’s advice. Because our goals are same, we all hope each student succeeds. Even though the coloration is challenging and difficult, we still need to do it with our efforts.…
I’ve never had to go to any counselor, because Mr.Ibnabdeljalil is easier to talk to, and he will take the time out of his day to help me solve problems I have. When I got suspended Mr.Ibnabdeljalil was the only teacher who reached out and checked on me, and when I returned to school from my suspension he let me use his class period to make up work for all of my other classes. Mr.Ibnabdeljalil has helped me stay out of a lot of trouble by teaching me how to handle situations the smart and correct way. When I thought I had nobody Mr.Ibnabdeljalil assured me that he was right there by my side. I am very grateful to have a teacher like Mr.Ibnabdeljalil in my life, he’s shaped me into becoming a better student, basketball player and overall just a better person. I cannot thank Mr.Ibnabdeljali enough for eveything he has ever done for me, he is definitely a teacher I will never…
