In the gambles of life there are so much to be discovered. Passing every day to what may be the greatest day to discover anything new. Our world is filled with so many wonders that have not yet been discovered and by practicing the arts of researching in the sciences branch, is a way to start. Biomedical sciences is a branch that is constantly changing and moving forward with every little detail that there is found by every single one of the people dedicated to it. That is why I want to be a part of such discoveries that are to be made. Not only giving from myself to help but also proving that I can be a competent human being and work for life itself.
On the other hand, in the university I have learned that anything there is to be found in science is important. Because the human body it is still a mystery that has yet to be profoundly understood is why I know for sure that this is what I want to continue on. To be in your program would be a great privilege and the best experience in my world. I know that many of the research that are being conducted in your laboratories’ are directed to cell and molecular biology. The genetics course shines through my other courses I have taken because it detonated parts of me that I did not know, this also happened this semester with my molecular biology course. One course is the base of the other and the deeper I get in understanding the cells the hunger for learning and discovering becomes stronger. That is why I want to work there, to expand my knowledge and participate in those research by giving a contribution. Whereas, I know I can be a great asset to one of the labs if the opportunity to be there is

In school, I have enjoyed learning sciences especially when the topics are related to human conditions. Ever since learning about general biology in my junior high school years ago, I have on my own taken additional anthropology, psychology, anatomy and chemistry classes from a local college for further enrichment and have grown very fond of learning the complexity in human machinery and interaction. Occasionally I do find learning these topics too weighty to continue. Whenever that happens now, I would always manage to pull through by remembering that particular good day where I acted as 'an orthopedic doctor'.…

I can still vividly recall the eleven-year-old me fawning over the likes of Lawrence Krauss and Neil Degrasse Tyson. I was completely immersed in everything and anything pertaining to the vast universe beyond our seemingly insignificant world. I thought I had it all figured out. I would devote my life to being an astrophysicist and eventually earn my PhD. I would relish in the pink lettering on my wall that said “Dr. Mia”, but as I approach my late teens, my mind has been bombarded with what-ifs and buts. Irrespective of my change of heart, I still have an intense passion for math and science since it is how we explain the world around us, and that is why I have settled on biomedical engineering.…

I have learned so many things this semester that I never thought I would learn. I learned how to measure vital signs, how to identify what kind of food poisoning someone has, what the percentage is for a child of someone with Huntington’s disease, and so much more. Growing up, seeing my mother and godmother aspiring to become medical assistants began to enhance my interest in the medical field. Skimming through their textbooks intrigued me on how the human body is extremely complex yet I found it to be so captivating. As time progressed, I became even more intrigued in pursuing a career in the medical field. Thus, when I was accepted to Hillcrest High School’s Pre-Med Program I was elated to see that I was now one step closer. Taking rigorous science courses such as Anatomy, Med-Lab and Microbiology, heightened my enthusiasm as I had finally begun to prepare for my future endeavours. Conducting experiments such as pig dissections, growing bacteria on a petri dish and others intoxicated me with excitement for…

I have always wanted to work with animals for a career. I read a book called “Born Free” by Joy Adamson. This book is about a family who took care of a lion since it was a cub and how they released the lion back into the wild when it was ready to fend for itself. Then, a few years later the family went back and visited where they released the lion, the lion actually noticed them and came to see them. Throughout this book, you could say that the lion, the family, and the reader were all rescued. Lions have been my favorite animal since as long as I can remember. How cool would that be to have a relationship like that with a lion? Or any other animal for that matter? I’ve seen videos of people caring for animals and animals caring for people…
