Dr. Archibald Hart tackles the difficult subject of anxiety. Not only does he go into deep discussions about anxiety, but also he also covers the seemingly never ending causes and cures for many of the varying problems and issues that arise from anxiety. Like many of the authors previously discussed in this section, Dr. Hart does not believe that medication is the answer to solving these life problems. Even though medications do help and aid in the process, a lifestyle change is critical and necessary in order to overcome anxiety and the many other difficulties directly associated with anxiety.…
The biopsychosocial model describes the concept that biological, psychological, and social factors interact as complex networks that influence one’s health and illness (Suls & Rothman, 2004; Gatchel, 2007). One of the main goals of health psychology is to understand the relationship and interaction between these factors. Health psychologists examine treatment effects on a person’s health by applying interventions that modifies the three factors that comprise the biopsychosocial model (Suls & Rothman, 2004; MacKinnon & Luecken, 2008). Numerous studies and interventions have been designed to improve physical and psychological health based on the biopsychosocial model (cite some of these). This approach was related with the psychologist Sigmund Freud. He suggested that the mind is made out of 3 parts the conscious level, preconscious and unconscious level. He believes the unconscious mind is important as many of our memories, feelings and past experiences are locked up in this part. He says we can’t access these contents but they often ‘leak out’ in dreams or by the slip of the tongue whilst talking. According to Freud the conscious mind represents the tip of the iceberg. Most of our experiences and memories are either pre-conscious or unconscious. Unconscious meanings under the surface- hard to reach just like that. There are 6 psychosexual…
When applying Erikson 's theory and his 8 stages it allowed me to assesess each individual on what stage they are currently in and the stages that there has been issues in achiving. In the case of LaJoe it would seem that she had already achieved stages 1 through 6 during the early part of living in Henry Honer. As the decline of a positive community and family, LaJoe seemed to reverse on the process of developing her identity. Once positive, optimistic and eager to lifes posibilities she has now reverted back to some of the earlier stages of Erikson 's theory. According to LaJoe she blamed her children 's problems on the neighborhood, the neighborhood 's decline to the change of the people, to the influx of drugs and violence (Kotlowitz, 1991).…

The American Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), lay claim to creating offender profiling and although there is no universally agreed definition (Snook et al., 2007:439), the fundamental idea is the same throughout. Profiling aims to offer the probable description of a likely offender, after an analysis of a crime scene, the victims and the evidence available. Dwyer describes it as "one of the most controversial and misunderstood areas of criminal detection" (2001:47), and it is agreed that profiling does not solve crimes, but narrows down the range of potential suspects (Dwyer, 2001:49; Ainsworth, 2013:8). Due to the definition being so broad, it is also relevant to note that "not all claims are equal" and there are factors within profiling…
