Community College to be a police officer, and currently testing for my 2nd Dan black belt. Tae Kwon - Do was and has still remained a large part of my life through the four years since I started as an unauthentic, shy, and pretty much lacking a lot of, if not no, self esteem. Now, only year after receiving my 1st Dan black belt, have I really started to take the steps into the art that is Tae Kwon - Do. Since last year, I have started coming more when I can to help assist than I had before but admittedly not as much as I’d like to. I had not realized at the time last year, which seems like it had already happened so long ago, all the time, effort, dedication and energy it really took to be a black belt. My time at Summer
Camp helped to put me into perspective just how much work it takes to lead and instruct so many children, and made me appreciate even more the work that Master Surendra and my brother Instructor Noah do, as this is a regular thing they face daily compared to the r roughly three months of Camp I worked for. My weekend at the
Instructors Academy better helped me understand ways to be an affective instructor such as keeping a positive attitude and smiling, preparing students for testing, taking time to help students in an area in Tae Kwon- Do they having trouble with. My time on the
Wesley Tigers demo team has been, although tedious at times, enjoyable as it helped me bond better with my class and teammates, not to mention improving discipline and coordination(and to a lesser extent, synchronization). So admit I don’t really have much to write as I wouldn’t be able to accurately write put into words the experiences and emotions that I’ve been through during this testing. To be completely honest, there was time I thought about giving up and stop testing for my 2nd Dan for a variety of reasons. With the help and support
