Bless Me Ultima Seminar
Good morning ladies and gentlemen, family and friends, students, parents and teachers. We join here today to honor the 8th grade class of 2012. Like me, most students have been dreaming of this day since they first walked through the doors of Pershing three years ago. As sixth graders we had to adjust to everyday Pershing life. Gone were the days of single classrooms and desks. We now had many classes, crowded hallways, our own lockers, a crazy bell schedule, lots of tests and quizzes. But we managed to get through all the changes. As eighth graders we rule the school. We are the top dogs. We are who everyone wants to be. From the youngest in the school to the biggest and smartest, we are now the students sitting here today listening for our names to be called so we can walk across the stage and be recognized for our achievements. Even though we are anxious to go to high school, it is important to remember everyone that has gotten us to the day that we all have been waiting for. Making the adjustment to high school will be an arduous task, but Pershing has prepared us for anything. On behalf of the eight grade class, we would like to thank our teachers for pushing us to strive for our best; our coaches for encouraging us to be active and try our best; our officers on campus for keeping the school safe; our parents for standing beside us as we navigated through our middle school years. Most especially I would like to thank our principal, Mrs. Lowe, for making our school a wonderful place to be and a national school to watch. We wish you the best of luck wherever you may go. Any school that has you will only be better for it. As we take this next step into high school, we will face many challenges and obstacles as well as many life changing events and unforgettable moments. And, through it all, let us always remember to be Pershing

High school: a major transition in many teen’s lives that poses some confusing, yet important, questions. Who am I? Where do I belong? What am I going to do with my life? I was caught up in all of these questions, and quite frankly, life didn’t seem so simple or easy anymore. Day after day I would struggle with keeping everything in balance and worried about all of the little things. My life seemed to slowly slip up until I couldn’t seem to handle everything. I needed answers, and I needed them quickly.…

These past few years at Lionville Middle School have been some of the most memorable and exciting parts of my life. I came to Lionville Middle School from Shamona Creek Elementary. Shamona Creek elementary was much smaller than the gargantuan, new middle school. Also, there were so many more students and teachers. I expected the middle school to be filled to the brim with classrooms and I was correct. Some of my first memories here are quietly coming into the school and looking for my classroom. I did not even know where to go or how to get there. All around I saw kids getting to their classes right away, while I was stuck in the hallways. Fortunately, I saw a friend and followed him toward my new classroom. When I got my new locker, I had…

Growing up we all looked forward to starting high school, but how many of us enjoyed every bit of it? High school was a moment that I looked forward to; thoughts of doing what I finally wanted to flood my mind. In June 2008, I received my GSAT result and was delighted when I saw that I passed for the William Knibb Memorial High School; although a bit disappointed because it wasn’t on my top five list. High school was not everything that I expected. In a few days, I met a few nice people. The first week of school was amazing, but after a few weeks things started getting intense. High school; however, was no bed of roses, especially when it came onto the subjects, reports, and school rules.…

Seventh grade is a struggle for almost every student. It is a completely different atmosphere compared to what students have adapted to in their elementary years. My seventh-grade year started as a struggle, but after hard work and determination, it ended in success. I was a student at Bayou Academy and had been since kindergarten. I was always an honor roll student. It had never been a struggle for me to make good grades. Everything was about to change because of my seventh-grade English teacher, Mrs. Maria Johnson. Because of all of the journal writing in Mrs. Johnson's class, I am a better student today.…

The last time I remember something as huge as starting in high school was having to move to Oregon from Alaska, but for better or for worse, here I am, attempting to make my mark on this big blue Earth. However, Highschool was never always just peaches, cream, rainbows and unicorns. If I’m to be one hundred percent honest here, I was legitimately terrified of it, whether it be the totally reasonable fear of being stuffed into a locker by a bully or getting lost in a labyrinth of corridors and passages of infinite classes and broom closets. But those fears never truly emerged up until the final days of freedom that remained from my graduation of 8th grade. As the days drew nearer, so did my fear reaching the brim of a breakdown. I was scared,…

As nervous as I was when I walked into Saint Joseph Catholic School (K-8) for my first day of kindergarten, I never thought I would be able to leave after 6th grade and enter the world of middle school. In a small school of about 400 kids, I was familiar with every face that passed by me in the hallway. I got to know the kids in my grade so well and we all knew each other’s life stories. By the time I was in 6th grade at Saint Joseph, some of my friends were planning on going to Kinard middle school in 7th grade. At this point in my life, I was not completely content with where I was going to school. The realization came to me that it was time to move on. It was time for me to try something new.…

High school can be a challenging period in the life of any teenager, but I suspect that I had one of the more rough transitions from middle school out of those in my class. As soon as I walked through the doors on my first day at Wahlert Catholic High School, I knew that I was not ready for it. I walked with my backpack slung over my shoulders, containing new notebooks waiting to be filled, pencils waiting to be sharpened, and a computer just waiting to spend several hours trying in vain to connect to the school Internet, but I still felt unprepared. As we were hauled into the gym for our, “You’re a high schooler now so you have to be mature and not cause problems,” talk, I began to feel queasy. As I was pushed around from class to class by…
