On the other end of the spectrum befalls the blue ocean, which can also be depicted through a literal illustration of its characteristics. In a blue ocean, a vast landscape void of competition and freedom to pursue self-manifested wills is at the discretion of the occupant. A blue ocean is uncharted, where opportunity reigns because those who have sought out these waters have done so through an innovative ability to navigate themselves out of the once crowded red oceans. It is a privilege to occupy these waters, and the following examination will detail why in terms relative to business practices.…

Industry Landscape: Web Design in 1995 was in its infancy with great potential for growth. Considering industry using Porters model, competition within industry is low because of the requirement for specialized skill set; there was low possibility for new entrants since it requires a steep learning curve; risk of substitution is low since web design came in as a disruptor technology; buying power of the customer is less since he/she does not have enough suppliers and cannot vertically integrate; supplier power is high due to low competition. We all know the ocean to be a vast place teeming with countless species of life. Yet we often forget that there are patches of the ocean that are not swarming with such life. These “marine deserts” are some of the least lively waters of the ocean which stems from shifting ocean currents that devoid regions of plankton; the base of the oceanic food chain. Yet, these same waters are home to some of the most notorious marine predators. The striped marlin, for example, are daylight hunters who usually have to search far and wide for a meal in this part of the open ocean. However, we see it catch a lucky break and attack a huge shoal of sardines; taking advantage of its quick movements to many of them. A short time later, a sei…

    In-Depth Audience Analysis

The message’s view of the audience and stakeholders based on the written profile is a push to build Jacksonville, Florida. Jacksonville’s community profile has several tabs depicting information on starting a business and getting involved in the community (JaxChamber, n.d.). This indicates the Chamber is pushing for growth in Jacksonville. The site uses usergraphics and webographics as an approach to define its intended audience and stakeholders. Bonnye Stuart, Marilyn Sarow, and Laurence Stuart (2007) wrote that usergraphics defines how customers use a product and webogrpahics takes profile information collected by users of the website to track information (pp. 59, 60). These two definitions align with how the Chamber clearly wants to attract businesses and people to the city. Jacksonville’s Chamber of Commerce (n.d.) wrote “The mission of JAX Chamber’s Small Business Center (SBC) is to assist the growth and development of Jacksonville’s small businesses community by constantly assessing their needs, collaborating with service providers and offering technical assistance, mentoring and access to capital.” This shows it…

    Kraft Website Review

    • 753 Words
    • 4 Pages

The seven key design elements of an effective web site as outlined in the text are context, content, community, customization, communication, connection, and commerce (Koler & Keller, p541). The context, or layout and design of the website, is fairly simple in that there is not a lot of clutter, the search function is centrally located and easy to find, and the information is easy to access through the main menu tabs. The content, or use of pictures, sound, video, etc, is balanced well with reading material. There are many pictures of their products, videos, TV commercials, etc. embedded within each page of the site. Community is described as how the site enables user-to-user communication. If the site offers this, I don’t see it. Customization is the ability to tailor to different users or allow users to personalize the site. Again, I don’t see this feature in the website. For communication, the site contains contact information, email contact forms, and phone numbers under the investor, media, and careers buttons. Additionally, the contact link at the bottom of the page allows for other information sharing. The connection seems to be minimal. I don’t find any links to other sites outside of Kraft. There are, however, several links to other Kraft sites. The Kraft ezServ link appears to be the commerce capability of the website, but I am not registered, so don’t know what features it entails. In comparing the website with the 7C’s, it seems to be fairly well designed, but could use some improvement in community and customization (Kotler & Keller).…
