It is believed that if someone works as hard as possible, it will prove the “worthiness” of a person. This mindset was formed by a group of English Protestants called the Puritans in the 16th and 17th centuries. They found out that the necessity for hard work is needed for success. For example, if a Person A wants to lose twenty kilograms in one month of exercising as compared to Person B in five months of exercising, the outcome of losing weight will be much more successful if Person B managed to lose at least four kilograms in the first month as compared to Person A which sets an unrealistic goal of losing at least ten kilograms within the first two weeks.
