The central purpose is to expand on the data collected in the Week one assignment and build on it correctly to identify the bottlenecks in that process. The process examined was that of daily routines and the bottlenecks present in the process will be uncovered and eliminated . There will be much efforts aimed at breaking down existing bottlenecks that can lead to process improvement and enhanced efficiency. The bottleneck in a process is to define the daily routine of getting ready for school and making it to class on time (Chase, Jacobs, & Aquilano, 2006)
Bottlenecks are “any resource whose capacity is less than the demand placed upon it.” They are essentially the point where the flow of a process is weakened or brought to a complete standstill. Of the above factors, the main bottleneck is the need to keep a daily routine that slows the process of getting ready for school and making it to class on times Goldratt’s Theory of Constraints (TOC) suggests that the above issue can be resolved. The issues was resolved by following the few simple steps of : identifying the constraint, exploit the constraint, subordinate everything else to the constraint, evaluate the constraints, and started over. The bottlenecks was identified and the constraints was used to eliminate them (Chase, Jacobs, & Aquilano, 2006).
As mentioned above, getting ready for school and making it to class on time is the bottleneck in this process that causes a delay in my daily routines. In an effort to improve and solve the process, two processes was eliminated, which is the staying in the shower too long and taking too much time getting dressed. In doing so this decrease the amount of time and had a time to walk to school and participate in other activities before going to class. This simple change added time to my post school activities and permitted me to maintain a timely daily routine of making it to class on time.
