What is a CRM, SCM, and ERP? (CRM) stands for customer relationship management. Customer relationship management is the “Business and technology discipline that uses information systems to coordinate all of the business processes surrounding the firm’s interactions with its customers in sales, marketing, and service” (Laudon, P. Laudon, C). (SCM) stands for supply chain management systems which is “information systems that automate the flow of information between a firm and its suppliers in order to optimize the planning, sourcing manufacturing, and delivery of products and services” (Laudon, P. Laudon, C). (ERP) stands for Enterprise resource planning “is a business management software- usually a suite of integrated applications that a company can use to collect, store, manage and interpret data from many business activities, including: Product planning, cost,, manufacturing or service delivery, marketing and sales, inventory management, and shipping and payment” (Wikipedia).
Why are they difficult to implement? Customer relationship management is hard to implement in areas such as sales software, direct marketing and fulfillment software, and customer service and support software. Customer relationship management uses sales software for cross-selling and up-selling. The problem here is that information can easily be broken into if you do not have the right type of security. It will make your records not fully secure. The difficult part of direct marketing and fulfillment software again can be tampered with if security is not up to date. This segment of the system holds the tasks and leads. Last the implementation is difficult in this system in the customer service and support software. The portion of the system helps manages requests from customers. If there was a problem with the system it could lose all data for customers’ requests. Supply chain management systems is difficult to implement
