In the next phase of the system development process is taking the architectural blue prints and implementing the design. Smith Services Consulting Inc. will include a high-level description of the security controls as recommended for the design of the new Human Resources Management System (HRMS). We have gathered all the information needed to improve the HRM system with some important requirements from Riordan Manufacturing Company.
After interviewing and collecting data through surveys we have determined that each department will have their own security controls based on the methods each department performs. These separate departments will have a unique method of storing and securing their data.
The company’s HRIS system was installed in 1992. It is a part of the financial systems package and keeps track of the following information: Personal Information (such as name, address, marital status, birth date, etc.), pay rate, personal exemptions for tax purposes, hire date, seniority date (which is sometimes different that the hire date), Organization information (department for budget purposes, manager’s name, etc.), and vacation hours (for non-exempt employees). The Finance & Accounting department has some challenges with their old HRIS system. Some F & A data is provided to corporate via data files; some data is provided via hardcopy reports and must be re-entered; some data is provided via data files but must be converted (redirected) to the proper account code. We must create a system to do away with the hard copy reports to avoid the time consuming task of re-entering them into the data base. F & A needs a more seamless system where all files can be funneled straight to the corporate office for up-to-date accounting information.
Marketing & Sales department has its own challenges and is in need of improvements to boost its overall revenue mark. It has a two year plan to reach $50 million in revenue, by
