HRIS Implementation at Riordan Manufacturing As a leader in the manufacture of plastic injection molding, Riordan Manufacturing (henceforth referred to as the company) corporate location is based in San Jose, CA. The company has made acquisitions in three other locations in the United States and one in The Peoples Republic of China. During the acquisition process the company did not plan for the integration of the separate human resources systems used by the acquired company 's. The corporate Human Resource Information System (HRIS) at Riordan Manufacturing was installed in 1992 (Riordan, 2004). The HRIS at the company needs to be brought up-to-date. In bringing the companies HR system up to industry standards; their data will be in a single location for easy access. In order for the system to meet company needs input from the HRIS primary users, executives (for final approval), managers and IT will need to be gathered to propose a new system design. The service request SR-rm-004 is for an analysis to integrate a state-of-the art, information systems technology for the Human Resources department.
Company Background Riordan Manufacturing, Inc. was founded by Dr. Riordan, a professor of chemistry. Dr. Riordan had obtained several patents relative to processing polymers into high tensile strength plastic substrates. He started Riordan Plastics, Inc. in 1991. In 1992, the company name was changed to Riordan Manufacturing, Inc. and the company is an industry leader in the field of plastic injection molding (Riordan, 2009). The company has facilities in Albany, Georgia; Pontiac, Michigan; San Jose, California; and Hangzhou, China. The company is wholly owned by Riordan Industries, a Fortune 1000 enterprise with revenues in excess of $1 billion.
