Appropriate Health, safety and Nutrition for Young Children
There are several ways to show the correlations between health, safety and nutrition. For example, children who abide by their parents rules and get the proper nutrition are less likely to fall ill or even have a broken bone. Getting all the daily recommended value of vitamins and minerals helps to build a strong immune system and strong bones in children. Therefore, the child is safe from viruses or injury. The best interests of a child are always on the mind of parents and teachers alike. Children are our future so it is natural to want to make the best decision for them until they reach the time where the responsibility can be handed over. Although it may be hard to allow children independence, we need to be confident in our ability to show through example. Teaching safety, nutrition and health, and how they are all dependent on each other. This will help build the foundation for these children to grow into happy, healthy, and confident adults (Marotz, 2009). Health, safety and nutrition need to be a consistent part of each child’s life every day. All of these elements lead a child to live a good life. “A child growing up in a loving family in which a healthy diet, safe environment, and opportunities for learning and recreation are provided is more likely to experience good health” (Marotz, 2009). Health is a large category, it focuses on the child’s overall well- being. Health has many sub categories and branches off to meet their physical, cognitive, social and emotional development requirements.
There are varieties of learning activities and toys for two to four year olds to help reinforce their learning of health, nutrition and safety. One, children can draw or color pictures of health and nutrition food also what food are safe. Two, children can role play book or show on safety, health and nutrition. Three,
