Synaptics is a leader in producing customized semiconductor chips and software related to touch, display, and fingerprint authentication, which all play a large part in a wide variety of digital lifestyle products, including smartphones, tablets, automobiles, as well as PC products.

Synaptics is a leading worldwide developer and supplier of custom-designed human interface product solutions that enable people to interact more easily and intuitively with a wide variety of mobile computing, communications, entertainment, and other electronic devices. The majority of Synaptics’ revenue from the markets for smartphones, tablets, personal computer products (PC), primarily notebook computers, and automobiles.

Over the last couple of years Synaptics has significantly broadened its product portfolio and has expanded both its customer base and product offerings within its core smartphone, tablet and notebook markets mainly through strategic acquisitions, which has resulted in two consecutive calendar years of 50+% top-line increases.

Synaptics’ human interface product solutions for mobile applications constitute an important percentage of its net revenue, accounting for approximately 85%,

The firm is considered the market leader in TDDI, but is not expected to reap material financial benefits from the technology until fiscal 2016. Advantages of TDDI include a simplified design process with manufacturing, cost, and supply chain benefits in addition to a slimmer form factor with better display and battery performance.The adoption of mobile payments is extending the opportunity for fingerprint sensors and will require methods for safeguarding identities, and we believe Synaptics can leverage its fingerprint sensor along with TDDI to drive growth going
