For writing tasks student’s writing is assessed on the following criteria:
Content: successfully communicating all the points required in the task; taking the opportunity to use original content when appropriate.
Accuracy: using structures and vocabulary correctly.
Range: using own structures and vocabulary (i.e. not just the structures and vocabulary given in the instructions).
Register:appropriate use of register (e.g. formal/informal, persuasive, complaining, etc).
Organization/cohesion: organizing and linking parts of the text.
Overall effect: having the right effect on the intended reader.
Writing an email
A good answer would have most of the following features:
1. Content:
(points covered): The student covers all of the following points: name of the person / people sending the email: Head, Interviewing team name of the person / people the email is addressed to: Liz Steiner, Sales Director information about the content of the email: Subject: Appointment: Sales Manager: Central and Eastern Europe opening: Dear Liz body of the message: to tell the Sales Director about
a. the candidates that the interviewing team has interviewed for the position.
b. the candidate that the interviewing team has decided to appoint
c. the candidate’s strengths and
