However, although groups are everywhere and we participate in them constantly, we do not understand them very well. Many of us can tell stories of groups that seemed perfect for a given task, but which failed. And we all have reasons (or excuses) that explain such failures.
But our experiences in groups suffer precisely because we are with them. To manage groups and teams we must consider the following to be
Successful;
Creating and maintaining team cohesion; Cohesion is “a group property with individual manifestations of feelings of belongingness or attraction to the group.
Internally there are several factors that must be present for cohesion to exist within a team. First good and appropriate communication is essential to creating and maintaining cohesion. Communication leads to the second factor, unity of purpose. For a team to work as a cohesive team they must share a common goal and to collectively work towards that goal. And finally, the team must have a high level of commitment understanding that what they do together as a team is better than what they do on their own.

I can incorporate cohesion by showing respect to other team members, and allow everyone to be active listeners. By showing respect to one another in a team, the members can reach the unaccomplished goal set. There are different personalities and diversities in a group, but as long as you can work together despite the diversities, attitude, behaviors, competition, the goal can be completed effectively. I enjoyed the team collaboration this week. I have so much from the videos and the team input and discussion. Effective communication is needed in all areas of teams. I know that working in team can be challenging, but always remember to put your best foot forward, and keep on moving towards the goal. Sometimes, teams may not perform in adequate time but be persistent and ask if you can be of any assistance in helping other team members. Unless, there is a leader assigned, there is not an “I” in teamwork. Working the team this week was productive and I have communication was open and to the point. Everyone discussed and posted about the scenarios on both videos as…

    Make sure the atmosphere is informal, comfortable, relaxed. Where there are no obvious tensions, a working atmosphere in which people are involved and interested in will join everyone together as one unit, the team can bounce off each other with ideas and also problem share. People will get more involved and everyone will participate. If discussions do go off track as they sometimes do in group discussions someone whether is be a member of the team or the team leader themselves will bring it back to order. Members must listen…

    In order to be an effective team you must accomplish your set goals. To achieve this task a team must first discover and overcome the five dysfunctions of a team. According to Lencioni (2005), “Dysfunction #1 Is the Absence of Trust: Members of great teams trust one another on fundamental, emotional level, and they are comfortable being vulnerable with each other about their weaknesses, mistakes, fears, and behaviors. Dysfunction #2 is Fear of Conflict: Teams that trust one another are not afraid to engage in passionate dialogue around issues and discussions that are key to the organization’s success. Dysfunction #3 is the Lack of Commitment: Teams the engage in unfiltered conflict are able to achieve genuine by-in around important decisions, even when various members of the team initially disagree. Dysfunction #4 is Avoidance of Accountability: Teams that commit to decisions and standards of performance do not hesitate to hold one another accountable for adhering to those decisions and standards. Dysfunction #5 Inattention to Results: Teams that trust one another, engage in conflict, commit to decisions, and hold one another accountable are very likely to set aside their individual needs and agendas and focus almost exclusively on what is best for the team.”…

    2.1 Effective teamwork is essential to the success of any business. As “no man is an island,” the positive effects of productive teamwork can energise an entire organisation, just as the negative effects of a lack of teamwork can cripple an organisation. An essential ingredient to effective teamwork is attracting and keeping the right team members. No matter how hard a group of people try to work together and create an effective team, without the right people for the job, the team will inevitably fail.…
