1.1 Define the key features of effective team performance
Characteristics of an Effective Team
There needs to be a clear purpose where team members share a sense of purpose and common goals for what they are trying to achieve and work towards these goals together. That all team members can discuss the objectives until members can commit themselves to them. The team identifies its own resources and uses them, depending on its needs. The team need to be able to work together and accept or challenge any advice given to them from the team leader of the task. The team must be conscious about its own operations and is aware of and interested in its own processes. The team has taken time to discuss the group process and how the team will function to achieve any objectives. They must have a clear and mutually agreed-upon approach for expectations, rules, etc. They must constantly evaluate their progress and rectify any mistakes of problems they encounter along the way, whatever the problem may be it must be discussed and a solution found and always using the knowledge of all team in a fair and reasonable way. The team must work to a common goal, there should be clear goals set out along the process and it is the job of team leader to make sure all individuals are working together to the same level to achieve the same standard of outcome. By achieving these smaller goals throughout a process will make the overall task in hand easier to achieve.
Make sure the atmosphere is informal, comfortable, relaxed. Where there are no obvious tensions, a working atmosphere in which people are involved and interested in will join everyone together as one unit, the team can bounce off each other with ideas and also problem share. People will get more involved and everyone will participate. If discussions do go off track as they sometimes do in group discussions someone whether is be a member of the team or the team leader themselves will bring it back to order. Members must listen
