Neither my uncle nor my dad was especially computer savvy, so I was left making flyers and designing business cards. I did not immediately love working on publications as my preference is to work directly with people, but the more I learned the more I grew to like the marketing aspect of business, once I discovered how essential marketing is to a thriving business.
My love for business & advertising also grew in high school while I was taking engineering. Even though these are two different job fields, I notice that business can be in any job field if you think about it. In engineering every project we received we had an objective, a client, goals, and a prototype. Thus, in a business, you also have the same thing. A business has an objective of what they are trying to sell, a client of who they are trying to sell to, a goal of making money, and a prototype because a business can’t just sell their first product they need to test the product. Currently, in my engineering class, we have been chosen to participate in the MIT-Lemelson Inventeam. Millions of high school across the country enter, but only 15 schools are chosen. We are the only school in Georgia to be chosen to receive the ten thousand dollar grant and present to MIT this summer. Our invention is to create a device that will prevent/lessons the number of hot cars death in children and animals. Similar to a business we have to conduct research, plan, raise money, develop the invention, test our invention, market our invention to our clients, and finally show it off this summer to MIT.
I am interested in studying Business & Advertising at Howard University because I know it will give me the skills that will help me to succeed throughout my life and career.
I want to contribute to the business world once I finish my degree. I would someday like to become a marketing and advertising manager. Marketing and Advertising are considered one of the best of the business fields at Howard. Becoming a business major will be a great investment in my life and I also could really enjoy myself in that field. I want to be a business major because it will help me improve my communication skills and my personal development skills, which I will need both in order to interact and communicate with other people in the business environment. I know that becoming a business major requires a lot of thinking and communicating. I will also be ready to bring my skills to analyzing problems, evaluate solutions, and make proper decisions for my future company. The business field supports my interest because I feel it’s one of the highest demand jobs worldwide, it’s a big part of our society, it’s diverse and seem to be one of the highest paid jobs in the business. In closing, I feel that being a business major will help me to stand to gain out of
life.
