When building a childcare setting there are lots of things to take into consideration for example not discriminating against anyone applying for a job and the resources needed to educate children about different countries and certain recourses needed for children with disabilities to help them access the things they need to.
When interviewing staff for the nursery you need to ensure that you do not discriminate against anyone. You need to make sure that you have an even distribution of both male and female workers and a range of different races within the nursery. Doing this will make your nursery diverse.
Another thing that you need to consider when building a nursery is collecting a different range of diverse resources. Something that children are interested in is different books from different countries. Children find learning about different countries and their cultures interesting, the like learning about the different foods they eat and different things they like doing. Also letting children read and learn about different countries is also educating them about different countries from around the world. I think this would be a good idea as it helps children understand what different countries are like.
A different flag from different countries and welcome signs in different languages is another good idea on how to educate children about different cultures. If English is a child’s first and only language then they would have the chance to learn another language until they start school sometimes even later in life depending on the school that they choose to attend. Also you could play a matching game with the children. As they get more familiar with different countries flags and the language you could match the flag up with the word ‘hello’ from another country. This would be a brilliant opportunity for children to start learning language at a young age, as children pick things up much quicker at that age than they do at secondary school.
