Cadet Officer Application

Almost three and a half years ago I was a new freshman cadet in NJROTC at San Ysidro High School. I started off at the bottom like any other cadet, but I was surprisingly the quiet one of all. Although I was new, I knew where I wanted to stand in the unit. I wanted to be more than what people knew me as, the quiet and shy girl who only joined the program because her brother is in it. Cadets knocked me down for months to the point where I wanted to quit and give up because I thought I lost all hope in myself. But ironically, that was the best part of all because I grew and learned from that experience, I wanted to prove all of them wrong. The first month of being in the unit, I successfully got passed through my breaking point and it greatly contributed to the person I am today. Towards the end of my freshmen year I was recommended by unit officers and chiefs
This helped me become committed to my goal and manage my time efficiently. Ever since the big promotion, I have been getting promoted every semester. At every promotion, I gained a higher position within the unit. From an Officer, Operations Officer, to a Commanding Officer and finally building my way up to currently to the position as Chief of Staff and Administration Officer. As I am currently a senior in high school and in the unit, I significantly progressed. From the shy girl that was always messed with to the really talkative cadet that became much more than what she expected to be. The NJROTC program definitely built my leadership potential, discipline, commitment, and responsibilities. Most importantly college readiness, this program helped me discover new colleges that offer military programs if I decide to pursue a career in the military. I am very grateful for the awards and opportunities NJROTC has offered not just to me but for every cadet in the
