Today, I am a graduate of CUNY Baruch College with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Operations Management. Although undeniably rewarding, the road to graduation was, to say the least, strenuous. When I began the pursuit of an undergraduate degree, I was determined on becoming an accountant. However, instead of solidifying my interest in this major, the demanding curriculum along with being employed full time took a toll on my GPA. As a result, I came to the realization that…

My dream for the next four years is to achieve a Physician Assistant degree at St. John’s University. As I transition to college from high school, I understand how there is no one in the world besides myself to help me reach my goal and it will require hard work as well as motivation to reach that point. At times, I feel overwhelmed with the struggles that arise in achieving my degree, but that would not stop me from my main point in coming to this school. I am able to connect my experience to the experience the Nolan’s and my dad went through when it was their time to achieve their dreams. I find it to be very lucky to go to school in New York because I am already one step ahead of my game to fulfill my target since New York is the place where there are many opportunities for everyone. Hence, having a motivated outlook on life, everything that is impossible will be…

Being a child of immigrant parents, it is our duty to prosper and fulfill our goals so the hardships and struggles of our parents do not become a vain attempt. No matter what difficulties we stress, we rely on that family bond which helps us prosper. My role in this community is to garner the benefits that my parents have provided to me through their sacrifices and serve as a role model to future generations. By earning my degree, I would demonstrate to the younger generations that we, as minorities, can prosper in our desired field and make an impact on this world. I want to be an example to those who believe they can not prosper because we are minorities, however, we can diversify the work system. We are not defined by the given stereotypes of our community but rather the story we create for…

My family was affected by the Louisiana Flooding, so this scholarship would be a relief to my family. That is because the flood has resulted in economic hardships which have made the prospect of attending university even harder than it would be under normal circumstances. Additional to the economic consequences of the flood, it also has simply made the process harder since the college process had to be somewhat put on the back burner while taking care of other matters. In these regards, the scholarship would have a significant impact on my ability to attend university. Obviously there is the fact that it eases the economic situations since it lowers the financial strain of attendance. That is a big deal due to the financial situation that my…
