A firm with five co-founders plans to found a Hotel for pets “Kora” in Astana, Kazakhstan. The vision is to become a leading service and health care company for citizens of Astana who have pets and willing to leave their loved pets while being away. The firm’s mission is to provide daily services in hotel staying, nutritional and health care for customers’ pets.
Building the Founding team
It is a known fact that entrepreneurs go through an iterative process of founding a team, capital raising, and development of ecosystem. After deciding to be an entrepreneur, one of the main challenges everyone faces is to go alone or assemble a team. A team of 5 people consisting of Zhibek, Nargiz, Elnara, Talgat, and Zhanibek found an entrepreneurial venture. Our entrepreneurial team was formed by the classmates with similar international academic background . It will reduce the time to take for co-founders to get acquainted with other, build a working relationship and learn to communicate with each other. The team, on the one hand, is homogeneous because its members (classmates) have common networks and shared experience (MEM program). However, on the other hand, the team could be called heterogeneous in terms of that its team members have diverse work experience (IT, academic consulting, engineering), thus enabling a wider range of capabilities and external perspectives of getting contacts.

According to Belbin Test, by understanding the roles in founding a team, everyone can develop its strengths and manage weaknesses as a team member (Appendix A). It was found out that our team consisted of different Belbin Team roles; this will help us to improve our contribution to the team.
