The career choice as the authors stated “the choices a student makes about his or her field of study and later career can have a larger impact on what they get out of the career”. (Page 214, Para 14) The effectiveness the authors have on readers is very effective to help readers understand the concept of picking a valued career choice. The statistics the author includes is a work life earnings and includes the highest paid major is engineering and math. This was very difficult to understand because education was last on the pay scale earning the lowest. Education is a major field of study and it reminds readers that the degree chosen sometimes doesn’t meet the equal pay deserved. The effective logical appeal the authors used was “fourteen percent of people with a high school diploma make at least as much as those with a bachelor’s degree, and seventeen percent of people with a bachelor’s degree make more than those with a professional…

There have been many different moments in my life where I am forced to make an educated and well thought out choice between two or more things. For example, after high school I needed to decide on whether or not I wanted to play football in college or just be a full time student and work a job. Oddly enough I ended up choosing college football at a private college over attending a junior college this last fall, a choice I soon came to regret. In a short summary of my first college experience, I jumped into a big decision without thinking enough about it and I am now attending Parkland College and working at JT Walker’s a sports bar in Mahomet, Illinois. I give you an example of a hard choice I have had to make in my life recently because in the next couple of semesters at Parkland College I will need to make another tough decision. Even though I have my major picked out already which is Nursing, I still need to decide whether or not I want to discontinue my education after I get my associates degree to be a Registered Nurse, or to continue on with my education and become a Nurse Practitioner. There are many things to consider when choosing a career, even if they are similar occupations it does not always mean they are the same in every aspect of the job. A few of the topics I will be comparing between my current job and the two I just listed in my essay will be location, salary, environment, and responsibilities.…

I really did not start thinking about my career until late in my senior year of high school when I had to pick a certain major to pursue here at Florida State University. One day I decided to go out to Barnes and Nobles book store and buy a few books toward choosing a major. I was clueless and all I knew was that I wanted to enjoy heading off to work every morning and make an above average salary. As I took various quizzes I realized that engineering was the major for me. There were certain questions such as, "what were your obsessions as a youngster?" and "what subjects in high school are you strongest in?" My answers to these questions were building legos, playing with puzzles, and solving math problems, respectively. This happened to lead to civil engineering as the career I should consider. So here I am, pursuing my destiny.…
