Spring Career Conference Essay
February 9, 2014
It seems to me that having an internship in the United States can be a fulfilling experience, full of knowledge, and wisdom. When I was in Mexico I worked at a place called “Vector: Casa de Bolsa”, which is a stock brokerage company. It was a very interesting job but I didn’t last too long because I wanted to study abroad, especially in the United States. In the Spring Career Conference, I was looking for something related to that matter, because I have a lot of interest in this type of field, being that my major in this case is Finance and I am a junior and in Mexico, we need to fulfill hours of company practices in order to graduate, which is the same as getting an internship on a company of your choice. It was quite interesting walking around because most of the offerings taking place in different companies I have never even heard about in my hometown, so I just presented myself on different stands just to see what was their posture or what are they offering to the student. I was surprised that they have different types of offerings on different types of fields, so that you can choose whichever pleases you the most or the one that you are more qualified to do the job. Both of them with different opportunities, but the one that I liked the most was definitely the SVA Professional Services, because it one of the most diversified professional service firms in the U.S. they have been established over 35 years, with specializations on different fields like: Construction, Healthcare, Non Profit, Real Estate, Retail, Professional Services, and much more. I was quite familiar with the way they worked because they offer consulting to business, auditing, planning, management, strategy, although is quite different they way they work at Vector, it seems quite interesting to have an
