The artwork contains different elements of art, including color, space and shape. In reference to color, Hisel composes the artwork using contrasting colors, which include green, red, purple, brown and grey, which interact to define the environment and distinguish the different features of the artwork such as the human beings depicted by the artist. Moreover, Hisel also employs the interaction of different shapes in the artwork, which include triangles, ovals, rectangles and squares. In the application of repetition, the artist illustrates the presence of humans with a close distance between each other. Using this element, the author is able to show the association between the various elements and create a feeling of organization. Hisel also employs proximity by placing various elements next to each other and at varying distances from each other. For instance, she places the humans close to each other to communicate the proposed idea of a community. Finally, she applies balance through ensuring a proper connection between the shapes positioned in the artwork.
