Some actors acted and appeared entirely different in the movie than the book. The directing and special effects were okay in some scenes, but half-baked and lousy in others. Furthermore, the characters are developed far less in the film and many semi-important scenes in the novel are excluded in the film. Do not watch this movie unless you have read the novel (or even if you have read it). If you haven’t read the book and decide to watch the movie instead, you will fail to understand the complicated relationships between each character and between the Socs and Greasers and just think the movie is substandard and all aspects of the movie lacked in action, emotion, or just seemed like they were not well thought out. A 3.5/10 may seem harsh, but I was not pleased. Just go read the book instead. It had the potential to be a great film, but severely missed the…
Before I got pregnant with my son, I used to love watching scary movies. My favorite was all of the “Saw” movies, but there was a few I’m still scared of watching to this day. In “Why We Crave Horror Movies”, Stephen King explains how each and every one of us have some kind of weird and twisted side that likes to see the horror in some daily things. He talks about riding on the roller coasters at amusement parks, you have this excitement of riding, but then you think of the scary movie where the ride starts falling apart and everyone dies. These types of things make us put ourselves to the test and prove to others that we are able to do some things. Yes, it puts fear in our hearts, but it will never stop us. King makes us realize that when we are young, we are really curious about different things, horror being one. Once we have grown into mature adults, our curiosity has somewhat been fulfilled because we don’t crave the scary things anymore. As a child, we watch children’s movies looking for fun little things. The only thing is that we don’t quite realize that there are issues in those movies that deal with death. For instance, in “The Wizard of Oz”, the Wicked Witch of the west is melted by the water that Dorothy threw on her. Not all of the children’s movies are fun and games. As we look at these movies, we let our thoughts roam where they want. If you think about it, are we normal to laugh at someone who just got their head chopped off. Stephen King says “the potential lyncher is in almost all of us.” He’s saying that all of have had those moments where someone has made you angry or upset, and you just wanted to hurt them. In another way, he could’ve meant the lyncher as showing love, friendship, etc. to one another, and one will be awarded with the same acts of kindness or something else. King says “If we share a brotherhood of man, then we also…
Though it was a decent film, there was a few flaws. I thought the movie was a little too predictable. There wasn't much to it, and I knew exactly what was going to happen before it did; like when Dana (Eric Phillips) grabbed Roy and tried to…
Stephen King is one of the most famous writers of the horror, science fiction, supernatural fiction, and suspense genre.…
Stephen King never clearly states the thesis of this essay however there is enough information provided that we can infer one. We need to keep our inner lyncher at bay by feeding ourselves with small portions of demonic, bloody, violence, found in horror movies. King writes “It deliberately appeals to all the worst in us. It is morbidity unchained, our most base instincts let free, our nastiest fantasies realized...” (Why We Crave Horror Movies, paragraph 12) and by doing so he’s implying that horror movies are like a temporary fix for our violent craves.…
The element, a pattern of assault, deception and betrayal is evident in Carrie. When Carrie came home to her mother she was abused for getting her period hours before. In the movie, she was repeatedly backhanded and kicked by her mother and verbally assaulted as the mother claimed, “Don’t’t lie to me, Carietta, don’t you know by own I can see inside you? I can see your sin just as surely as god can”. With that Carrie was locked in the closet for the unjustified reason that she had “sinned” and therefore obtained her period. After the shower scene Carrie felt betrayed by her mother for letting her go uneducated about her womanhood sobbing, “Oh Momma why didn’t you tell me something, I was so scared”. Because of her mother’s deception Carrie is left in the dark, blind and unprepared for what was to come. Mrs. White is so radical in her beliefs she knowingly betrayed Carrie because it was marked as a sin in the bible. At school Carrie is assaulted during the shower scene and…
He is trying to persuade people to have the same opinion as him. He wants his opinion to be a common opinion about people because that is what he believes to be true. That’s what the entire essay is about, to tell us his opinion about mankind. Stephen King writes this to tell that everyone is insane in some way. That there are levels to insanity and people crave and need horror movies to let that insanity out. He wants people to realize this after reading his essay. He wants to entertain while it is being read so you stay interested. He does a great job of making the purpose of the essay clear for the…
After the release of this film it had received a lot of mixed reviews from critics and movie review websites. Most of the complaints about this film were that there wasn’t enough scare scenes and that the CG (computerized graphics) were poor in quality. However, reviews are based on opinion and many others thought this film was scary based on a psychological aspect. Since this movie was filmed like a documentary it didn’t possess the common theatrical aspects of a scary movie such as suspenseful background music and sounds; you never knew what is coming.…
Altogether absorbing, I enjoyed, A Glitch in the System, it was a terrific adult-themed thriller rich with mystery, fortified with well planned plot twists, and a uniquely sympathetic heroine. Fans of top-notch thrillers will definitely enjoy this…
There is nothing good about this film.... which is why it is so brilliant. There is no protagonist nor antagonist. Just lost people in a confusing world searching for purpose. It astounds me how much sympathy I felt for each character as they embodied the lost people that wander this world. To name a few:…
I seriously enjoyed the movie because it has got punch and narrative pizzazz: a strong, clear, instantly graspable storyline…
The movie is a very touching, spectacular and award winning motion picture I’ve seen in my whole life. For it touched my heart and made me realize facts about life. This movie has such sad and funny parts and the acting is absolutely fabulous. All in all, this movie tells an amazing story and is never boring. I really loved the movie. The actors portrayed their roles perfectly. Sean Penn did a wonderful job in portraying a mentally challenged man. Like when he was about to give up when…

The strong point of the film is really the screenplay which is in time and has an impact. The acting was established well since the actors suit to each of the character they portrayed. Also, it has a good cinematography. The shots and angles are just good enough to be able to leave a good impression to the audience. Seeing the film, every element is very good which leaves its audience a very positive…
I think the plot of this film is fantastic. The film builds up suspense. The audiences are always required to guess who the murderer is while they are watching. This makes the entire audience feel nervous and exciting. Also, Nick…
