Grave Encounters I will be writing my review on a film titled ‘Grave Encounters’. This film is about a group of paranormal investigators who go to investigate an abandoned psychiatric hospital that is supposedly haunted. The cast and crew of this movie are Sean Rogerson who plays the lead investigator Lance Preston, Ashleigh Gryzko who plays as the investigator Sasha Parker, Juan Rideinger who plays as the investigator Matt White, Merwin Mondesir who plays as the team camera man T.C. Gidson, and Mackenzie Gray who plays as the paranormal communicator Huston Grey. The writers and producers of this film were The Vicious Bros (Collin Minihan and Stewart Ortiz). I choose to do my review on this movie because I find the paranormal interesting and this film was a good representation. Even though I know this movie was a work of fiction I do believe that scenarios like this exist in real life. In the movie the cast investigates a haunted mental asylum where the patients of the past were greatly mistreated, a well-known fact about mental institutions of the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. The angry spirits of the deceased patients are still active, seeking revenge do to the way they were treated. The crew soon finds that this is true and evident based upon the paranormal phenomenal they witnessed during their investigation. After the release of this film it had received a lot of mixed reviews from critics and movie review websites. Most of the complaints about this film were that there wasn’t enough scare scenes and that the CG (computerized graphics) were poor in quality. However, reviews are based on opinion and many others thought this film was scary based on a psychological aspect. Since this movie was filmed like a documentary it didn’t possess the common theatrical aspects of a scary movie such as suspenseful background music and sounds; you never knew what is coming. I really enjoyed this film, due to its realistic approach on paranormal investigations.
