Case-4 The G family
Relevant Symptoms: Larry is a 16-year-old male, single, who was referred by the juvenile court to family therapy. Larry is a teenager that is lacking from positive structure from his parents appears to be involved in gang fights, has been arrested three time for theft. Mr. G which is Larry’s stepfather is currently disable and is a stay home dad that take care of the house chores. Mrs. G works in a factory and have a younger daughter Heather, 14-year-old, female, who is seeking attention from her parents by notifying the parents every bad behavior from her brother putting more stress in the family. Including resolving negative feelings associated with Larry’s behavior that lead to legal issues (Datillo & Jongsma 2014).
Short-term 2: Gs’ family will learn to recognize the positive uses of anger and will learn how to manage and control anger outburst towards positive behaviors and expression of communication by identifying destructive behaviors and/or communication that could trigger anger behaviors (Datillo & Jongsma 2014).
Intervention: G’s family members needs to identify and verbalize their own anger and perceptions and will communicate how their feeling of anger was misinterpreted. The counselor will encourage to addresses the noncompliant rebellious behaviors of each member of the family and assist parents in the outing out of the members of the family (Datillo & Jongsma 2014).
Intervention: The Gs’ family will learn to apply self-monitoring, signaling, acknowledgement, cool down, and calm verbal communication (Datillo & Jongsma 2014). In addition to the use of pathfinder parenting techniques to brain storm positive techniques for parenting (Messina, JJ.
